The Unbroken Chain was nominated for the AIAA's 2003 Gardner-Lasser Aerospace History Literature Award.
This award is presented for the best original contribution to the field of aeronautical or astronautical historical non-fiction literature published in the last five years dealing with the science, technology, and/or impact of aeronautics and astronautics on society. The award is named in honor of David Lasser and Lester Gardner founders of the original technical societies.
The Emme Award was established in 1982 to provide recognition to the truly outstanding book published each year serving public understanding about the impact of the astronautics upon Society and its potentialities for tomorrow.
