T O P I C R E V I E WDC GiantsI just recently put a couple of moonwalker autographed photos on my office wall and are great conversation starters....or so I thought. I work for a state agency, and so far 2 of my colleagues have commented separately "Neat autographs...do you really believe that we went to the moon?" They went on to say that they had seen some documentary on cable that disputed the moon landings actually occurring. I refuted their weak arguments, but was surprised that they actually believed that way. I have heard of conspiracy nuts on the internet dispute the landings, but this is the first time I have personally encountered this in person.Anyone else have similar experiences?RizzHey there DC GIANTS, welcome to the board. Here's a link that adreeses your question. http://collectspace.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000635.html Bottom line is these people need to be educated, and it is important that we continue to spread the truth.BTW, I was just watching some original footage of Apollo 12 moonwalkers tripping and falling on the lunar surface.Watching them getting up off their face to an upright standing position is something hard to duplicate in Hollywood.Have Fun!Rizz DC GiantsThanks Rizz. I also got to use my education in Geology and Astronomy to refute some of the arguments. Your link was interesting!Regards,DCScottTroubling. That reminds me of something. I had a friend who got Guenter Wendt to sign an Apollo moonwalk conspiracy pamphlet at an autograph show. Wendt inscribed it exactly like this: "I vunder where they vent. Guenter Wendt"[This message has been edited by Scott (edited July 19, 2003).]Russ StillHehehe... You can thank me for that inscription. I told him to do it and he thought it was great. Glad you liked it.randyI had someone tell me they were actually in the studio when the moon landings were filmed!TRSyup - TV3 over here in New Zealand repeated that Consipracy Theory programme about a fortnight ago.I have my two BIG autographed Buzz Aldrin & Gene Cernan photos up at work and my models on a bookshelf and almost daily since the re-run I end up having conversations about this with people who come and go through my office. I recall someone putting the www.badastronomy.com link up on a previous thread on this and I have had hours of fun sitting people down at my computer and showing them through it. I even had one take my Lunar Module kitset out into the garden area to try the shadows explanation![This message has been edited by TRS (edited July 20, 2003).]Rizz quote:Originally posted by randy:I had someone tell me they were actually in the studio when the moon landings were filmed!I LOVE IT!Ed beckI would love to see someone produce a film that is the same exact quality as what came back on the latter Apollo missions. The vistas from Apollo 17 would hold thier own in Yosemity Valley. As good as HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon" was, it still looked like it was made in a studio. I didn't get the feeling that they were there. I think a lot of people think that the grainy TV video feed from Apollo 11 is all that we have. They clearly haven't seen the whole picture. There is a magnificent photographic record that needs to be seen and expirianced. That should put the hoax to rest.Ed------------------"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Psalms 19:1 NIVDC GiantsI agree. Even the best CGI used in movies nowdays, still does not come that close to real life, let alone film taken in the late 60's. I think what contributes to the skepticsm about the moon landings, is that it happened a long time ago (relatively) and that it was such big accomplishment compared to what we are doing today, that people have a hard time believing in it.DCRodinaI've been a long-time fan of Bad Astronomy, but don't visit it quite as much anymore, since I don't need my views of the moon hoax debunked. : )GilbertWell, to paraphrase Carl Sagan, "500 American newspapers carry a daily astrology section and guess how many carry a daily astronomy section?" This is sad when you really think about it, and to me explains a lot.GilbertScott quote:Originally posted by DC Giants:I think what contributes to the skepticsm about the moon landings, is that it happened a long time ago (relatively) and that it was such big accomplishment compared to what we are doing today, that people have a hard time believing in it.DCThat's exactly what I think. Truly the most amazing accomplishment in the history of mankind. And look where we are 30 years later. It defies logic. You're talking out of Uranus!"------------------

Watching them getting up off their face to an upright standing position is something hard to duplicate in Hollywood.
Have Fun!
