Section Two: Astronaut Memorabilia
Lot 011: Apollo 12 Flown Flag and Patch from the collection of Richard Gordon

This American flag and Apollo 12 embroidered patch sailed with Yankee Clipper and Intrepid to the Ocean of Storms in November 1969.

Apollo 12 was the second manned lunar landing mission. The late Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr. and Alan Bean lived on the Moon for 31 hours and 31 minutes (7 hours and 30 minutes of which were outside the Lunar Module Intrepid) while Richard Gordon orbited the Moon inside the Apollo Command Module Yankee Clipper.

The flag and patch were donated by Gordon, who had them as part of his personal collection. They have been framed and matted with archival safe materials while still attached to the original NASA presentation.
