The Upper Deck Museum Collection Relics in 2018 Goodwin Champions trading cards includes space shuttle artifacts. The cards come in two sizes:
Many of the Goodwin Champions Museum Collection Aviation Relics are available in packs as standard sized cards, but the real draw is the redemption exchange cards. These over-sized beauties were completed right before the product packed out and will be available to ship to fans who redeemed them shortly.

What exactly is the Space Shuttle Orbiter Housing Cover as listed on some of these relic cards? I've tried to Google it, but have not found any info.

Just out of curiosity, I looked these up. Beckett notes that there are just five cards per pack, 20 packs per box. Out of every box, on average, you can expect three Autographs, Relics, Manufactured Patch Cards or 3-D Lenticular Cards.
Relics are 1:480 packs while Museum Collection Aviation Jumbo Relics are much tougher at 1:1,920.
In addition, there's three cards with a portion of a shirt belonging to Jay Apt, one with a limited run of 25, another limited to 50, if I'm reading it right.

The regular relic cards are from Atlantis, Endeavour, Columbia, and Enterprise. The jumbo from Endeavour and Columbia, with an unlisted for the jumbo orbiter housing cover.

Too rich for my blood!

Too many specialty cards, trying to lure people in with their "uniqueness," even though the object in the card is probably worth little to nothing. (A 1920s bathing suit swatch from an unknown person, never mind not knowing if it was worn or just found in some attic?)

It reminds me of comic books with the numerous No. 1 issues and different variants. Trying to cash in, literally, on people's hopes that the cards will increase in value.

Just wondering if anyone in the community has found any info on what the Space Shuttle Orbiter Housing Cover is?

I just got one of those cards but there is no info on the back as to what it is. Thank you.

This year (2019), Upper Deck/Goodwin released a new series of trading cards in the "Museum Collection," which includes an "Aviation Relics" set. This includes a series of artifact cards, including cards containing Kapton foil from most of the Apollo missions.

However, I'm suspicious of these cards, for two reasons. First, the size of the foil is enormous. Some of them are about 1" x 2". I've seen pieces that size sell for over $1,000 at auctions. So it seems crazy that they were able to get enough Kapton to apply it that generously to hundreds of cards. And the Kapton looks suspiciously clean and perfect.

Also, the wording is vague. The Kapton artifacts are certified as being "used in aviation." But they're not specifically certified as being flown, nor are they actually confirmed from the mission on the front of the card.

This leads me to think that Upper Deck bought a big sheet of unflown Kapton from the Apollo era. And from that one source, they made cards featuring all of the Apollo missions. And then in the fine print on the back, they specified that the Kapton was "used in aviation," which is technically true, even if it wasn't actually flown.

Does anyone have any information on this? This is either a very misleading series, or it's the best source of Kapton foil I've ever seen.

There has been plenty of pristine kapton foil on the market over the years, more than enough to make a few hundred 1" squares for these cards. I haven't seen the cards but from the size of the material I'm going to say that your assumption on the material not being flown is correct.

Just fired off an e-mail to Upper Deck Customer Service inquiring who supplied the material for the Apollo relic cards and, if in fact, the material was actually flown.

If I get an answer, I'll be sure to pass on the information.

I got answer from Upper Deck regarding the Apollo relic cards:
The blanket came from NASA, but did not go to space. The individual cards were all produced as a tribute to those missions.

All times are CT (US)
