I wanted to give a heads up to those of you that have Half Price Book stores in your area. It seems like they've been getting some cool space titles in of late. The main ones I have been seeing are the very recent Dover Publications reprints of the NASA history reports. Over the past three or four months, I have picked up such titles as "Where No Man Has Gone Before," "Chariots of Apollo," and the NASA History on the early Mars missions. Today, my local store got in several copies of "Living and Working in Space, the Skylab Story". Only reason I didn't pick it up was I already have the original NASA publication.

Each of these books I've gotten for $6.99 each, which is a real bargain compared to what the original NASA reports can command (those of which I didn't get when NASA had their book sale blowout). Granted I know that each book store probably gets a little different stock depending on what sells, but the numbers of these specific reprinted titles that I've been seeing suggests to me that more than one store should have them in stock.

My trips have also netted me a couple real good collecting scores as well. On a previous visit I found a copy of Gene Cernan's "Last Man on the Moon" complete with an authentic autograph in it and today I picked up a copy of "Apollo 13" (reprint of "Lost Moon" after the movie came out) complete with an authentic Jim Lovell autograph in it as well. Not a bad set of scores for only $6.99 each as I am SO glad whomever took these books in didn't take the autographs into account when they priced them.

All times are CT (US)
