In 2000, I purchased a VHS movie from Discovery Channel, titled "In Search of Liberty Bell 7 ." This tells the story of the salvation of the Liberty Bell 7 Mercury capsule back in 1999.Since I don't have a video player anymore, I inquired at Discovery Channel if this movie was ever re-released on DVD. Unfortunately it wasn't... Do any of you own this movie on DVD? |

You can take it to a camera store or video shop and see if they can move it to DVD. Have done this with some of my VHS tapes. |

Exactly, this works perfectly, I did this myself with the Liberty Bell VHS. Of course the quality is VHS, but still more than acceptable, only if you invested in digital remastering. However, here it would be very expensive and not worth of the money involved. |

Bear in mind that a good quality VHS recording transferred to DVD can be upscaled when viewed on a Bluray player, giving a better quality than the original VHS. |

I have copied my S-VHS recording of the transmission of the film on German TV in 2005 (ZDF "Wo ist Liberty Bell 7", 42 minutes) onto DVD-format. S-VHS is better than VHS and is comparable to Hi-8. I am ready to trade a DVD to everyone contacting me.The film is also available on YouTube "In Search of Liberty Bell 7." |

The ZDF (German TV) movie can't be the original Discovery Channel one as this is nearly 100 minutes long. It is either another one or the original heavily cut. |

Not officially. But as others have mentioned above, I did transfer my VHS copy to DVD. I have a VHS player that also has a DVD recorder built right in. Worked like a charm. |

It was officially released in DVD format (along with another 30 odd volumes dedicated to space exploration) in AU / NZ. Part of the "exploring space" set released by the IMP company. They're now (company) deleted but you can find them regularly listed on ebay.com.auSearch for "exploring space dvd" and you'll see some of the current listings on offer. |

Thanks Mike, it's pity there is no DVD coming on the market. Maybe Discovery Channel will do it in the future? |

I'd hope so I'll keep searching for one for you. It's not just the DVD either ... there's an accompanying hardcover / booklet that came with each release in the collection. Couldn't recommend these highly enough and there are some absolute gems amongst the volumes. |
