Space Shot cards from the early 1990s are sometimes the only way to get a somewhat low-priced signed photo of some astronauts. But was there some shady dealings when they first came out? Something about money that was supposed to go to a worthwhile cause but didn't? I don't want to dredge up old unpleasant details, but before I buy any more I would like to know the whole story. I searched around but couldn't find what I read months ago about this. |

From what I remember, the proceeds were to go to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, but due to some shady investments that never happened. I still have a bunch of these in storage in mint condition, including a holograph card of the "Moonrise" shot. |

According to the text on a set of Series Two cards: 25% of the profits from SPACESHOTS is provided to The Astronauts Memorial Foundation for the purpose of building The Center for Space Education at Kennedy Space Center. This facility will provide training and support for teachers nationwide in the math and science field. SpaceShots was a production of Space Ventures, Inc., a company founded by the son of astronaut Edward White. The Astronauts Memorial Foundation is a separate, unrelated organization to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation. | |
