Colin Burgess, of course, is co-author on my two books - but I still feel I can impartially recommend his book Teacher in Space, not only as a great summary of Christa McAuliffe's life, but also her work with Barbara Morgan. Morgan assisted with the book, and as it was published in 2000 it covers her selection into the full astronaut corps. It's an interesting insight into Barbara Morgan's earlier career. All royalties from the book go to the Christa McAuliffe Fund. |

Colin can you tell us a bit about your book Teacher In Space please? It sounds interesting. Am I right in assuming it is not part of the "Outward Odyssey" series? I have enjoyed the four volumes I have from that series a great deal. Thank you. |

In answer to your question, no - the Teacher in Space book is not one of the Outward Odyssey books. It was actually my first book with the Nebraska Press, and was mostly written for older, high school students. As Christa's mother Grace Corrigan had arranged for its publication through UNP (publishers of her own book, "A Journal for Christa") I dedicated all proceeds of the book to the Challenger Education Fund.As mentioned elsewhere, following my current visit to San Diego for the Spacefest convention, signed copies of this book are available through the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center right here in San Diego. Just contact Kathy Loder, the Store Coordinator, at kloder@rhfleet.org to arrange purchase and mailing. Kathy told me she is happy to accept overseas orders. | |
