For those of us who have collected astronaut autographs for some time, it was exciting news that 18 astronauts have been named to train to fly on lunar missions. Now to start sending out autograph requests......but, wait, many of the 18 are known not to be receptive to autograph requests and many of us lack their autographs. And now with the publicity, especially that one of the nine female astronauts will be on the first lunar landing mission, that lowers the autograph chances even more. But the good news is that several of the flown astronauts and a few of the rookies have signed in the past, so their autographs, on various material, can be found. Joe Acaba, Christina Koch, Kjell Lindgren, Anne McClain, Jessica Meir, Scott Tingle, Kate Rubins (but usually poorly) and Stephanie Wilson have signed and rookie astronauts Kayla Barron, Raja Chari and Jonny Kim have been signers. But Victor Glover, Woody Hoburg, Nicole Mann, Jasmin Moghbeli, Frank Rubio and Jessica Watkins have not via my experience. So we'll see what the future holds for us astronaut autograph collectors regarding results from the Artemis Team. But as usual, opportunists and some dealers will join in the Artemis autograph quest and any newly-signed material seen on eBay by the astronauts will help ruin it for us serious collectors. |

All I can say is good luck getting anything back. Even before Covid, JSC had about ceased returning anything. I honestly don't expect anything from Houston. |

Going by Dougherty54's very disappointing experiences regarding astronaut autograph results from JSC, it appears that we can't expect much/anything autograph-wise from the 18 NASA Artemis Team members. With astronaut autographs, though, it's best not to get too discouraged, as things can change, but in this case we can't be too optimistic. While in years past I've had fair to good results from the astronauts at JSC, my more recent results are not unlike Dougherty's. About a year and a half ago I sent a card along with a request for a signed portrait to each of the eleven NASA Group 22/Class of 2017 astronauts, but with only one positive response. With eight of the eleven on the NASA Artemis Team, it would have been great to have had at least a few to respond favorably. Fortunately, my requests to all eleven in 2017 at the time of their announcement did result in four of the eleven nicely signing for me, but only zeros since then.

The only return I've gotten back from JSC of the 18 — and it's been a year or more, so your mileage may vary — was Acaba, and McClain. To be fair, I sent McClain photos to get signed just as she was announced as an ASCAN, and evidently she took it with her to JSC as it included a portrait as well as my photo. Some have signed in person, some more reluctantly than others. Add to the Artemis Team the announcement that two Canadians will fly to the moon. Of the four current astronauts, I was fortunate enough to get three of their autographs from the CSA. But now, isn't the agency only sending autographs in country? I suppose if there's a good side to this it's that no JAXA astronaut has been named (yet). |

I think is not only JSC, but have the impression there are also less Russian returns from Moscow. | |
