An unusual medium for an astronaut's autograph...Celebrity 'squares' designed to draw viewers By Carol Azizian, The Flint Journal Sounding like a proud mom, Sandy Kipp of Richfield Township points out some of the 39 autographs on the "Michigan Celebrity Quilt," which she created with Sandy Montague of Davison Township."Ted Nugent's (signature) is in the U.P. with the bears," she says. "Gov. Jennifer Granholm's is in the center (close to Lansing) and (astronaut) Jack Lousma's is next to a star. Charleton Heston is next to a quilt design called flying geese because he's a hunter." The quilt will be on display through Friday at the Genesee Valley shopping center in Flint Township. It moves to the Greater Flint Arts Council for the 6 p.m. Friday reception and then to Mott Community College's Prahl Center Saturday and Sunday for the annual "Quilts at the Crossroads" festival. | |
