Very Nice Items !! However,The last item has a prominent "Gus Grissom" autopen !! The X-15 items are exceptional however I was hoping to see a Mike Adams signature as I understand there are some in this sale !! I would love to see those Adams items as they must be gems !! Something to look forward to !! Should be a great sale, thanks for the fantastic preview !! Wow indeed !!!...Donald Brady

Breathtaking! But autopens are a concern. They seem to be sprinkled around (I've noted three - two on one item, one on another) and need to be acknowledged in the catalog. Bill Numeroff, like so many other early pioneer space collectors, was philatelicly oriented, and 5 of his 8 items displayed here have stamps & cancels. With the current space collecting crowd we have, the philatelic-related items will have less desirability and probably less interest, but their quality & rarity should not be discounted. I'm sure many are shaking their heads wishing these autographs were on photos instead.

Since it has been noted that there are already 3 autopens in this preview, what does that mean about the whole auction? All I can say is that from the earlier threads, I hope we get the catalogs early. I wonder if people are going to be less or more harsh toward Superior than they were Aurora for these slips.

I can understand a few autopens being included, but the Grissom autograph is what gives the piece the greatest value. I think that if this is an autopen, then it was not a good sample to release early.

To be fair to Regency-Superior, I asked Alan Lipkin to forward examples of some of Numeroff's collection after they were photographed, even though Alan said he had not yet had a chance to inspect them for details like autopens. I thought that it would be of some value for readers to see some of the pieces, even if estimates and descriptions were not yet available. So if someone is to be blamed for their early unveiling, blame me.

For what it is worth, I did recognize the Grissom signature as an autopen when I posted the images, but have not yet noticed (or had the time to compare patterns for) the others mentioned. Bob, while we are waiting for Superior's descriptions, can you share with us what others you have identified?

Yes, both the Stafford & Cernan signatures are certain autopens on the Apollo 11 multi-signed item. The Young, Armstrong, Aldrin & Collins appear to be good. I didn't mean to be critical, but it does look like at least some of these wonderful autographed items from the Numeroff estate have autopens and need to be identified as such, as I'm sure they will be. And hopefully these will be all the autopens found. Always seems to be a few weeds in any beautiful garden <G>.

Personally, I do not think that items with autopens intermingled with real autographs (on the same piece) is very attractive. It diminishes the values greatly.
A $25,000 item easily becomes a $3,000 item IMO.
