The house built for German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun when he moved to Huntsville, Alabama is on the market, WHNT-TV reports. The US Space and Rocket Center purchased it when Von Braun and his family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1970, and a few years later it was sold again to another family. Now, it's back on the market. ...it also comes with a large office – Von Braun's former office. "You can tell he had a lot of books," said Lockwood, commenting on the large bookshelf area on one wall. Ed Buckbee, former US Space and Rocket Center CEO, can confirm Von Braun was indeed a reader. He visited the Von Braun home many times while the family lived there. "It was crammed full of books and documents," said Buckbee. " He was always bringing things home. His briefcase never left the office without being stuffed... He went through all that on weekends." |

I doubt the USSRC will buy it again, as they do not seem to be rolling in excess money right now. That, and the fact they sold it once before. |

Too bad there are no Saturn V models in his office. But I am sure anyone from here who would buy it could display a few. That would be amazing. |

Some further research shows that the realtor website incorrectly notates the "year built" as "1974," the date of its remodel, instead of the year of its original manufacture in 1958. |

The current listings do not notate the old cinder block "bomb shelter" out in the back yard mentioned in the news article. Am guessing that the little vine covered building may have been originally intended to be what we now call a "safe room" since it is above ground. |

This house was put on the market at $379,000 and sat for almost a year. 0n October 22, 2015 it sold for $280,000. Someone got a real bargain there. |
