Hi,
Nicholas Patrick was on breakfast/morning T.V here this morning. I put a tape on before going out. A decent 10-15 minute interview. He opened a space drink packet and a prawn meal for the presenters to try. He also mentioned he was opening a new space display at the London Science Museum tomorrow. I don't know if this is a press/invited guests only event or general public. If you live local try and attend,

best wishes,
Nick
Spaceman.

From Reuters:

The exhibition, launched on Thursday by a British NASA astronaut at London's Science Museum, includes a refurbished replica of Apollo 11, the craft involved in the first moon landing in 1969, and a 3-metre-high X-ray telescope from the Challenger shuttle.

The exhibition also aims to reveal the human effort behind complex machinery and space missions.

"Rather than just go for the further frontier idea, we wanted to make clear that space science is also a job," said Alison Boyle, astronomy curator at the museum.

Thank God they've got a new exhibit--the old one was really a disgrace. Incredibly out of date. Now they just have to fix up that "history of computing" exhibit of theirs...

Is this the same museum the Apollo 10 command module is located and is it still part of the exhibits?

I don't believe that they have Apollo 10, no.

Are you sure? It was still on display in it's usual home (the "Milestones" gallery) during the refurbishment of the space gallery.

Cheers,
Matt

Apollo 10 is indeed on display at the London Science Museum, in the "Making the Modern World" gallery.

Ah, OK, apologies for my mistake! I had assumed that it would be in the space gallery, if it was there. Now I'll have to go back and see it...

That image on Roberts link is a composite of shots assembled by Ed Hengeveld. I'm sure they should be crediting him or Apollo Archive, not REUTERS/NASA.

Thanks all. The Apollo 10 CM is the only manned spacecraft I have not seen and we hope to go see it soon.

Dredging up an old thread as I update A Field Guide to American Spacecraft, I was wondering about the reports description of "a refurbished replica of Apollo 11". Now indeed the Apollo located there is Good Ol' Charlie Brown from Apollo 10. This could have even been an editing error where the editor 'thought' it should read 11 instead of 10. But perhaps the reporter was talking about the full size Lunar Module replica that is there. If anyone has images of this I can post I'd sure appreciate hearing from you.

I have 4 or 5 images of the newly refurbished LM mockup, sadly the pics aren't too great as the lighting in the space gallery isn't best suited for handheld photography (even with a flash).

Here's a photo of the Apollo 10 CM that I took during my last visit.
