Columbia lifts off at a fraction of a second before 11:00 a.m. EST on March 22, 1982, to begin a planned week-long STS-3 mission for commander Jack Lousma and pilot Gordon Fullerton. I remember when a stack of STS-3 glossy photos arrived in my mailbox, sent to me by the wonderful Lisa Vazquez. This shot was immediately my favorite.

Brings back so many memories. We had a vehicle pass to view STS-3 from the NASA Causeway. It was an amazing experience!
