Only one of them would reach the moon: Stafford, commanding Apollo 10. Cooper would serve as backup commander for the mission, and in the normal rotation would have been in line to lead Apollo 13 and walk on the moon, but was dropped in favor of Al Shepard. |

Oh dear... I'm such a nerd. That's from "It, The Terror From Beyond Space."Marshall Thompson in the middle starred in plenty of classic 50s sci-fi. Worth watching though, as its basically Ridley Scott's "Alien." |

Several Apollo astronauts also visited the large 1.6 meter McMath–Pierce solar telescope at Kitt Peak observatory in Arizona. |
