A group of executives from LIFE magazine toured a number of space centers from November 29 to December 5, 1964. Participants were later presented with a set of photos taken during the tour, with humorous captions added. On November 30 the group was at NASA's Flight Research Center to witness X-15 flight 2-35-60 flown by pilot Jack McKay. The text reads: "Two doors down on the left... you can't miss it... it's marked MEN". Over McKay's shoulder is LIFE-photographer Ralph Morse. (photo provided by David Carey)

This "Photo of the week" certainly takes first place for the most humorous entry I've seen.

Nicely done!!!

Sadly, Jack McKay was seriously injured when the X-15 he was flying on 9 Nov. 1962 made an emergency landing and it rolled over; although he returned to flight status, the injuries contributed to his early death at age 52 in 1975.

All times are CT (US)
