That’s a great photo. I have not seen this one before.
It clearly shows the cover over the suit regulator with hose that off-boards exhaled gases to prevent oxygen enrichment of the X-24 cockpit during flight. That was not done when suits were re-introduced into the Space Shuttle for operational flights, which led to minimizing shuttle suit effective usage time (i.e. gloves on and visors down and locked) to prevent oxygen enrichment of the shuttle cockpit. Reduced effective suit usage was one of the findings from the Columbia accident investigation.
