Owen Garriott holds Alan Bean's legs as the Skylab 3 commander makes a minor repair to the space station's sunshade during a 2-hour-41-minute EVA on September 22, 1973.

First time I see this image as well... so after 33 years of collecting you always learn something new.

There's an image I believe was taken in the same sequence — SL3-118-2182 — that appeared in National Geographic. I have some correspondence with Garriott about it from a few years ago, and he wasn't convinced it was him, believing it was from the first Skylab mission... although eventually came to understand it was him.

Yes, this image is SL3-118-2181. The image in National Georgraphic is printed in mirror-image (or whatever the correct term is).

This picture reminds me of Alan's response to my question to compare his lunar EVA with his Skylab EVA. He responded that the lunar EVA was well rehearsed but when he climbed outside Skylab he felt he was in another world. Awesome picture!
