Please use this topic to discuss NASA's and DARPA's Demonstration for Rocket to Agile Cislunar Operations (DRACO) spacecraft, which will demonstrate a nuclear thermal rocket engine. Lockheed Martin was awarded a contract to build and demonstrate DRACO.

Ars Technica reports on the past and present efforts to build nuclear spaceships.
The military and NASA seem serious about building demonstration hardware.
