Kremlin release (Feb. 6, 2025) Dmitry Bakanov appointed CEO of Roscosmos State CorporationVladimir Putin signed the Decree "On the General Director of the State Corporation for Space Activities Roscosmos". Text of the Decree: - To appoint Dmitry Vladimirovich Bakanov as General Director of the State Corporation for Space Activities Roscosmos.
- This Decree shall enter into force on the date of its signing.

According to The Moscow Times, Bakanov was a former deputy transportation minister and head of the state-backed satellite communications company Gonets. Bakanov, the incoming Roscosmos chief, previously led Gonets, which had a joint venture with satellite internet startup OneWeb until Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) scrapped the project in 2018 over espionage concerns. | |
