Here is a partial list that I have of NASA astronauts that have served as pallbearers or escorts for fellow astronauts at funerals or transports. I am missing some astronauts from some of the funerals. - Ted Freeman (1964): Frank Borman, Tom Stafford, Dave Scott, Mike Collins, Bill Anders, and Charlie Bassett. Alan Bean folded the flag on Ted's casket.
- Elliott See and Charlie Bassett (1966): No information on astronaut pallbearers.
- Gus Grissom (1967): Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, Deke Slayton, John Young and Wally Schirra was family escort.
- Edward White (1967): Charles Conrad, Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, Tom Stafford, Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Jim McDivitt was family escort.
- Roger Chaffee (1967): Dave Scott, Mike Collins, Dick Gordon, Walt Cunningham, Donn Eisele, Alan Bean and Gene Cernan was family escort.
- Edward Givens (1967): Wally Schirra, John Young, Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan, Walt Cunningham, Donn Eisele, and Tom Stafford escorted Ed's casket during transport.
- Clifton Williams (1967): Charles Conrad, Gene Cernan, Mike Collins, Dick Gordon, Alan Bean and Jack Lousma.
- Dick Scobee (1986): Norman Thagard escorted Dick's casket.
- Mike Smith (1986): Dick Richards escorted Mike's casket.
- Ron McNair (1986): Charlie Bolden escorted Ron's casket.
- Judy Resnik (1986): Tamara Jernigan escorted Judy's casket.
- Ellison Onizuka (1986): Loren Shriver escorted Ellison's casket.
- Greg Jarvis (1986): Dan Brandenstein escorted Greg's casket.
- Christa McAullife (1986): Jim Buchli escorted Christa's casket.
- Steve Thorne (1987): No information.
- Dave Griggs (1989): No information.
- Patricia Hilliard-Roberstson (2001): No information.
- On Feb. 5, 2003 astronaut Rex Walheim escorted STS-107 crew caskets. On Feb. 11, 2003 astronaut Barry Wilmore escorted STS-107 crew caskets. On Feb. 12, 2003 astronaut Ken Ham escorted STS-107 crew caskets.

Interesting to note that Ed Givens escorts were the prime and backup crews for Apollo 7. Givens was a member of the Apollo 7 support crew along with Ron Evans and Jack Swigert. He was replaced by Bill Pogue. |
