A true gentleman, A true American hero, A true ambassador for the space program.
A sad day but also a day to celebrate his life.

What sad news. A great character and so exuberant. I was fortunate to meet him several times and he spoke to you as if you were an old friend even though he couldn't possibly have remembered us all.

I remember one talk he gave at Autographica in Birmingham UK, when there was only about twenty of us but after going so over time Dave Shayler had to come and tell him it was time to close down. I think he would happily have carried on much longer. Also he said how when at the Empire Test Pilot school in England in the 1950's how he loved flying the Hawker Hunter.

He will be sadly missed. RIP.

I met him once at Autographica and thought he was a real gentlemen. I highly recommend his autobiography, one of the best Apollo astronaut books. RIP

Very sad news and I was shocked to hear the news that he had died as I thought his illness was temporary. Meeting him over here in the UK about ten years ago was an amazing experience for me!

This is really sad news. Al was a great friend and one of the characters in the space programme.

He was always friendly and helpful in my requests and one of the pleasures of knowing him so well was to be in regular contact throughout the year.

Al kindly provided the foreword to both of the Springer Spaceflight Logs and we had talked last year about the third edition now being worked on and how he might approach the new Foreword. I am truly saddened that he will not see his trilogy of Forewords fulfilled, but the book will be dedicated to him.

The first time he saw me at an event, with a wide smile, he always voiced a loud greeting coming over to give a strong handshake and bearhug. That was the Al I knew.

At the Autographica events, he was constantly amazed that people wanted to hear his stories and often asked how he might vary his talk. It was always fun introducing him to the audience at these lectures and I fondly remember the banter between us.

He will be sadly missed by myself and my family whom he also knew very well.

R.I.P. Al. Clear skies and happy landings my friend...

Met him a few times at Autographica events. Always very sociable, with a zest for life. Was honored to be asked by his biographer Francis French to write a book review for Spaceflight magazine, about his wonderful book "Falling to Earth". Received an advanced copy to read and had a telephone interview with him. A larger than life presence at these events. He will be sorely missed.

I had the opportunity to meet him at an event honoring his colleague Dr. Farouk El-Baz who helped train Al on his on-orbit observations of the Moon during Apollo 15. Dr. El-Baz was truly touched that Al had made the trip to honor him. Fair winds to you Al, we will miss you and remember you.

I was saddened when I heard the news of Col. Worden's passing on the radio today. His photographs transferred to canvas were incredible. His long dedication to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation has helped many talented college students achieve their dreams via scholarships.

Met All twice at Airdrie and Glasgow and later Pontefract, his talks were amazing and he was was very good to me. It was great to get to meet one of my heroes when I was only 11!

was lucky to get to meet all three Apollo 15 astronauts. As I said in Glasgow when we gave him some malt scotch whisky, you are now in a higher orbit!

I met this wonderful person last year at the AĆ©rosalon Le Bourget in Paris. We had some minutes to talk to each other between his presentations and meetings. Thank you for your lifelong service, dedication and enthusiasm to the spaceflight program. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
