I met him lots of times on business and private events and occasions since 1997. I will never forget our always interesting and exciting talks.
RIP Ed - You will live on in my exhibition "Apollo and Beyond".

'Suddenly, from behind the rim of the moon, in long, slow-motion moments of immense majesty, there emerges a sparkling blue and white jewel, a light, delicate sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white, rising gradually like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery. It takes more than a moment to fully realize this is Earth ... home.'

I was honored to speak with him at various events over the years and he was always willing to chat about whatever subject I wanted. Chit chat about nothing or dig in deep about some detail of his Apollo mission. He was in the moment and engaged. I'll always remember the respect he showed to me.

I was extremely saddened by the loss of a man that I knew and respected. Two of my most memorable experiences with astronaut Mitchell were:
Having the honor of receiving the astronaut "Snoopy" award from Ed Mitchell:
Experiencing the "sense of humor" side of Ed Mitchell:
Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

It makes me very sad to realize that now there is no crew member left to tell the story of Apollo 14.
As a tribute I have, for the first time in my life, uploaded a video to YouTube, of the lecture Edgar Mitchell gave on July 5, 2014 at the Space Expo in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
He may not have been the most glamorous moonwalker but I had a bit of a weak spot for him, as the first lunar astronaut I actually met, in 2007 in Bruges, Belgium. May he rest in peace, forever a part of the universe that he felt so much connected to and that he helped explore.

Ed was the first astronaut I ever met many moons ago. A sad day.

RIP. He was one of the moonwalkers who helped my daughter (answering a question list) with her final school project: The influence of a space mission on the live of an astronaut".
Her teachers were convinced she would never succeed in having answers of astronauts, but in the end 17 astronauts participated, of which two moonwalkers. One of them was Edgar Mitchell, who wanted to know afterwards how the evaluation had gone... a great man.

As a tribute to Edgar Mitchell, I show below a Apollo-14 launch cover autographed by him.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Mitchell. I had the pleasure of interviewing him in October 2012 and he was a very kind and knowledgeable man.

During the Washington 2003 astronaut convention, as I made the trip especially from Switzerland (also to return on the last Air France Concorde flight) I offered Edgar Mitchell a thick Swiss Army Knife. He seemed really surprised, and not only he sent me a nice email a few days after, but also for Christmas, and kindly answered the few emails I sent in the years to follow.
By the way, Charlie Duke and Ed Gibson did the same. I worked in Formula One, and never found the same attitude with drivers...
