What a shame that Roger Boisjoly passed away; he's gone, but he won't be forgotten... |

Sorry to hear the passing of a noble man who was prepared to stand up and be counted. |

I though it might be appropriate to post these few signed items from Roger Boisjoly as a tribute to him and let everyone know that he was a valuable part of our American space program as a whole, but for his dedicated involvement in the space shuttle program. These items were provided to my by a very good friend, who had the opportunity to speak with Roger on a number of occasions. He will not be forgotten.

A pretty hard-hitting obituary is included in today's London Daily Telegraph. Roger Boisjoly, who has died aged 73, was an engineer whose warnings of catastrophe were ignored on the eve of the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster, which killed seven crew members, including the schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe. |

Why wasn't Boisjoly's death announced on January 6th rather than a month late? |

He wasn't considered part of the "establishment" anymore? |

The obituary placed by the family made no mention of Challenger and just a general reference to his career ("Roger worked in the aerospace industry for 27 years.") It may be that they didn't want or seek out the attention and it was only until Gary did his search, was his passing recognized. (I passed Gary's post along to some fellow reporters who passed it to the New York Times obituary desk, which then resulted in the other papers' coverage.) |

The family's attempts to let him go 'quietly into the night' is understandable considering the bitterness caused by some in the industry blaming him as a whistleblower. It was the ultimate "two fingers" to them and I hope he is now having the last laugh... |
