NASA is now hiring a new Chief Historian. Resumes are being accepted from Wednesday, July 7, 2010 to Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Serves as NASA Chief Historian and Director of the History Program in the Public Outreach Division of the Office of Communications. Serves as the principal staff advisor to the senior NASA leadership on all matters involving historical issues. Assures the establishment and integration of necessary planning, programming and coordination of the NASA History Program. The program covers all activities of the NASA organization, including aerospace related records collection, historical research, and publications. Evaluates activities, tasks and processes. |

Per Alan Ladwig, Deputy Associate Administrator for Public Outreach, Dr. William Barry has been hired as NASA's new Supervisory (Chief) Historian. Bill is coming to the Office of Communications from the Office of International and Interagency Affairs where he has been serving as the NASA representative to the European Space Agency in Paris. He received his BS from the Air Force Academy, a MS from Stanford, and a PhD from Oxford. He wrote his Doctoral dissertation on the subject of "The Missile Design Bureaux and Soviet Manned Space Policy, 1953-1970." He served as a pilot in the Air Force and first came to NASA in 2001. Bill will report for duty on September 7th. | |
