From the California Office of the Governor, first American woman in space Sally Ride is to be inducted into the new California Hall of Fame: quote: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver today announced the creation of the California Hall of Fame, a groundbreaking institution extolling the inspirational contributions of extraordinary Californians who have made their mark on the state, the nation and the world.The 13 inaugural leaders, trailblazers and legends to be inducted are Ronald Reagan, Cesar Chavez, Walt Disney, Amelia Earhart, Clint Eastwood, Frank Gehry, Dr. David Ho, Billie Jean King, John Muir, Sally Ride, Alice Walker and the Hearst and Packard Families. The honorees will be inducted at a formal state ceremony at the California Museum for History, Women and the Arts in Sacramento—the home of the new California Hall of Fame—on December 6, 2006. The California Hall of Fame is presented through the generous support of Bank of America.
