I think you may be thinking of the Astronaut Hall of Fame weekends.

I don't recall their being more than the single Astronaut Encounter guest at past Astronaut Autograph Show or Space Rendezvous weekends.

Usually there is one astronaut at the Encounter that also signs photos at the gift shop later in the day once the complete their lecture.

The prices for most others like Duke, Lovell and Worden are up. I think only Ferguson, McCulley and Stafford are not posted yet.

Who is willing to get some things signed in exchange for either some money to offset costs of your trip or a donation to ASF?

Chris Ferguson will still be attending the autograph show for half the day and then will be at the Gemini XII 50th anniversary dinner (update to the show's website is forthcoming).

In addition to the show guests, Bob Crippen will be attending the Heroes & Legends opening on Nov. 11.

Fergie is the fastest pen in the West, if last year was anything to go by, awesome. If you're getting stuff signed by him you need to be there on time and be organised. He'll chat a bit, but he doesn't waste time and he doesn't hang about.

So I can be prepared, how is payment at these shows handled? Cash? Credit cards?

I always use my credit card but I believe most take cash as well.

A lesson learned; if you plan to use your credit card, call your credit card company a day or two ahead of the show and inform them that you will be making multiple purchases at this event. Otherwise they may cancel your card once they see all these "unusual" charges coming in.

I try to use cash. I've had a couple times where my credit card was declined after the first purchase even though I called ahead. With the show only being one day, you're better off bringing cash because any problems you have with a card will eat up your day.

As a ballpark, anybody know what Stafford was in previous years so I can figure what a rough guesstimate would be for this year?

That is the very definition of last minute! I wish I'd known sooner, I could have had gotten exactly what I wanted signed.

Sorry for responding so late, but I can do it for you, or anyone else, if it's something they have. Just shoot me an email if you're interested.

Really enjoyed the show yesterday. ASF did a great job organising it again. The new venue and elimination of the entrance fee seemed to work well to me.

Had a fun time for my first autograph show. Expected line for Jim Lovell. I was an early arrival and was able to quickly see Charlie Duke. Tom Stafford was also a wait. My wife and a good time seeing Rhea Seddon and we both enjoyed meeting Dee O'Hara. Once again noticed that astronauts love to see models of their spacecraft. A few photos:

This was another great ASF event. Just home so more to come; there are so many highlights I can't begin to write about them now. But "Growing Up NASA" and other Friday afternoon talks were great. And some of us got to see a great tour of the next Orion spacecraft being build (isogrid vs orthogrid). And sat with Joe Engle for dinner.

Wonderful discussions with Fred Gregory (one of my favorite astronauts), Brian Duffy, Curt Brown, Bo Bobko, Jerry Ross, and more.

The biggest line for me was the security line to get into the complex. At one point they finally decided to open a third line. After letting two people in, they closed it again. An hour later I finally got in.

I arrived at the autograph show at 11:00. Bad timing to say the least. If I go back in the future, I'll make sure to arrive when they open or after lunch. Later is probably better because the security line is much shorter in the afternoon.

The highlight for me was getting to talk to Dottie Duke. I read "Moonwalker" several years ago. A good book and very interesting in many ways. The most interesting thing in the book was the chapter Dottie wrote. How Charlie's walk on the moon changed her life is an incredible story. I finally got the chance to thank her for putting her story out there. I had a lot of time to talk to her. Charlie was signing two pans for me. His pen leaked on one of the photos leaving a good sized blob, but it did not affect his autograph.

Jim Lovell was his usual wonderful self. A lot of people who didn't know the show was going on came through to see who was there. Naturally, Lovell was the one astronaut non followers of the space program were familiar with. It seemed like everyone wanted a picture with Lovell, and he never said "No" to anyone, even those who didn't get an autograph.

Since this was my first ASF show, I have nothing to compare it to, but the autograph lines didn't seem long to me at all. Besides Lovell, the longest line I saw was for Dave Scott, who had about five people in front of him. Most other astronauts had maybe one person in line, if any. Lines are only a problem if you need that particular person. I got five signatures, so I was able to skip most of the lines by going to someone else on my list.

I got Hoot Gibson to sign a McCandles EVA photo he rook. I had no idea what I wanted him to say, but while talking to him, we managed to come up with what I feel is a very good inscription on the photo. Same with Joe Tanner. While it's nice to get a signature on a photo, it's all about the inscription for me. I got two great ones I would never have gotten had I just mailed the photos to them. To me, that's what these shows are all about. Yes, it costs a lot to go, and a lot for the autographs, but it's definitely worth it if you can make it to one.

I liked the change of buildings to a far bigger room. It made moving around much easier than in past years. The downside was a farther walk to my car to get more items to have signed. Also it's so far removed from the main walkway that I can't imagine it didn't hurt attendance, though the free admission probably offset that.

Lots of great memories from this event. One I can't tell. But I can tell one with General Tom Stafford.

I had Tom sign a large multi-signed earthrise photo for a friend. After he signed it and I took some photos he pointed to a document in Plexiglas and told me it was a copy of the checklist page, in both English and Russian, from when he greeted Leonov on ASTP. I asked where I could get one. He just happened to have them for free — they were to raise money for ASF. How could I refuse? So I ponied up $275 for one. After he had signed it I asked him if he could have signed it in Russian. He said "yes," but explained that he printed the "T" in his first name and after that wrote in Cyrillic. But he said it was difficult; "Damn ______ Russian."

I'll leave it to your imagination as to what the second word of the sentence is.

I just posted individuals photos of the astronaut attendees (at least most of them to Recent Sightings. And here are two more shots, taken at the Gemini 12 50th anniversary gala.

In the first, master of ceremonies Mark Larson takes an impromptu selfie with Buzz Aldrin (and Jim Lovell looking on). Aldrin took the first selfie in space on Gemini 12.

In the second, Aldrin and Lovell act out with their hands the motion of the Gemini 12 spacecraft.

It's always been around the second Saturday of November. Usually if you plan for the Saturday closest to November 10th you will probably be right.
