This was posted in another topic July 9, 2012 (By Kim from Spacefest I believe): Jim Lovell has reached "that time" when doing autograph shows is too grueling. He won't be doing Spacefests or ASF shows anymore, but WILL do signings. One for ASF shortly; us (Astronaut Central) in 2013. I expect his signings will go the way of shows, too. Buzz is doing the same (but WILL be at Autographica and ASF this year.)If you haven't been to a Spacefest or ASF show, it's time. |

Al Worden's cancellation was unfortunately due to a last-minute scheduling conflict. And for those who keep speculating, yes, Buzz Aldrin WILL be in attendance at the show barring any unforeseen circumstances. We should have his signing fee tonight or tomorrow. The lecture schedule will be limited to Saturday and we are still awaiting confirmation. I apologize for the delay in releasing information but we are letting everyone know as quickly as we do. Thank you for everyone's patience! — Andrea (Comm. Manager) |

Well, I'd just like to add on a positive note that I am really looking forward to this year's event. I know it's disappointing when folks drop out, but go back to the web page and look at who's there. It's a rare opportunity to be in the same room with any of these people nevermind ALL of them. I'm sure it's a pretty fluid situation planning this thing every year, so I just roll with the changes. |

Thanks, xlsteve. FYI, we received Buzz Aldrin's signing fee. His base fee is $450. Crew completion and personalization has not been confirmed yet but I will let you know as quickly as I do. — Andrea (Comm. Manager) |

I know this is probably going to sound stupid but since I've never been to one of these before I'm just going to ask it. I've already got my Friday Rollover ticket, parking permit and placard. The ASF site is showing show admission tickets as being sold out. I assume once I get into KSC I can just pay admission into the autograph show on Friday? |

Has anyone heard if the reception for Friday night will still start at 7:30? Reason I ask, is I imagine the traffic will be heavy leaving KSC after the shuttle rollover. |

According to the website, Reception starts at 7:30, Platinum Plus with early admission get in at 7:00. It's not like a launch where they are busing people in, and all the people viewing the launch offsite clogging up the roads. I don't think traffic will be terrible like a launch. The fact that they still have Explorer Park passes six days before the event makes me believe it will not be too terrible. |

I'm looking for a quote by Jim McDivitt for the autograph show but just realized that the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal does not include Apollo 9. Can anyone direct me to the mission transcripts for Apollo 9? |

I'm sorry to see Bill Dana no longer appears as a guest. Still a great line-up, I'm just pointing it out for those who are packing their items to be signed. |

Yes, we are starting the reception at 7:30 p.m. Early entry for Platinum Plus ticketholders will take place at 7:15 p.m. They are closing public access (you must have a placard) to KSCVC from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday for rollover activities. This traffic could really go either way; right now, however, we are planning to experience some traffic delays. |

Yup... Wednesday flight was canceled. Next flight has no takeoff expectations as per the ticketing agent so my platinum ticket might be going to waste. Priority is keeping family and home safe and dry though, of course. I have spoken to at least two other East Coast collectors with ASF tickets that are in similar situations. Have a great show if we aren't able to come but keep us in your good thoughts!!! |

I'd also be curious if the hurricane is messing with the travel plans of any of the astronauts. (On edit, I see Buel has already expressed the same concerns.)

A fellow collector who lives very close to KSC offered months ago to get anything signed that I might like, and I happily took him up on his offer. I was going to mail the one item to him today, but he just called to say that there is a chance that because of Sandy he might need to get up to NYC this weekend to help his daughter, who is attending college there.Needless to say, I agree that she should be his priority. However, I would greatly appreciate it if any cS member who reads this and wouldn't mind waiting in Fred Haise's line could e-mail me right away. I'd probably want to send it to you care of the hotel, unless you live right near me, or unless you live close enough to the event that you'd still be able to check your mail on Friday (just in case). I'll send it Priority Mail, with a self-addressed stamped envelope. I've written to a couple of specific people who might be able to help, but since I'd like to get this in the mail today to make sure it gets there on time, I thought I'd post here too. EDIT: all set, thanks! |

Unfortunately hurricane Sandy has resulted in the cancellation of my flight. Can't get out of the New York area until Saturday night so it doesn't make any sense to make the trip. Very disappointed. If anyone needs a Gold ticket please let me know. completely bummed. Been looking forward to this for months. |

I'm going to be at the show Friday morning. I bought the "We Came in Peace" book that was for sale on here signed by seven moonwalkers that needs Aldrin, Scott and Bean on it. I'm still completely undecided on whether I'm going to get those on it it or not as I have several replica space gloves I also want to get signed.Seeing as I'm getting into the cost stratosphere already with those, if anyone going is interested in the book just contact me and maybe we can work out a deal where you buy some of the autographs I'm getting in exchange for the book. If you get those three there will be 10 moonwalkers signed on this book (minus Armstrong and Young) and that's quite hard to find on anything. The signed pages are extremely nice. I'd like to get $750 for the book so it would cost you $1600 total if you added Aldrin, Scott and Bean for the book and those three signatures to have a very nice item signed by 10 moonwalkers with still a chance to add Young and make it 11. If not I'll probably just get it signed myself as I'm sure I won't be able to pass up adding those guys to something that cool in person. I'll also have extra replica gloves and my Michael Collins signed one that has plenty of room for Aldrin. If anyone is interested in any of those just drop me an email and we can try and meet up at the show. I'll be the person juggling things up to each astronaut. |

I'm sitting in Orlando looking forward to the show! That's a shame about Schmitt but I am glad it's not a signing guest. That being said it does ruin my chances of somehow magically running into him and getting a pic. I'd be a bit peeved if I spent $150 for a pic and he canceled this late. |

I did pay $150 for a picture and I am very peeved.Jack Schmitt is the only living Moonwalker I haven't met and I was looking forward to seeing and hearing from him. While I look forward to a photo with Gene and Charlie, Schmitt's attendance was one of the main reasons I decided to go to the ASF event and dinner. I don't know why Schmitt canceled at the last minute; I hope the reason is nothing serious. It is not the fault of ASF or its staff. It is disappointing. |

Same here, and then imagine coming all the way from Holland... Mighty peeved. That said, tonight's screening of Apollo 13 with Fred Haise and Glynn Lunney and so many others attending was mighty great and so was briefly looking at the beautiful moon and Venus with Gene Cernan :-) Edit: actually it was Jupiter |

Astronauts are always subject to change as posted on our website. We apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately he could not attend. We still have a great program in store for you on Saturday night! A panel of 10 Apollo astronauts, including Tom Stafford (not signing at the show), will take the stage for a fantastic, candid discussion moderated by Flight Director Gerry Griffin. It's a one-hour panel with Stafford, Haise, McDivitt, Bean, Duke, Aldrin, Mitchell, Gordon, Scott, and of course Cernan. The photo op will be with Gene and his back-up crewmate Charlie Duke. |

Just be sure, as others have warned, to call your credit card company ahead of time. Attendees of these shows have had their cards declined when several large purchases minutes apart in another state set off alarm bells in the system. |

I just got back from the show and am exhausted from thinking I could get much more signed than I should have but had a great time! The astronauts and their handlers were great about helping out with pictures except for Aldrin's who told me that I'd have to take it myself. Luckily someone in line helped out.I must say that so many of the astronauts were so nice it caught me off guard. Cernan wrote out lengthy quotes twice and even added words to make it correct. He and McDivitt were quite nice to chat with. I think Jack Lousma talked to me for 15 minutes straight and was beyond nice to me so all in all s great day! Also if the person who found something of mine at the show and turned it into the ASF folks is on here please contact me. All you have to do is tell me what you found and I'll send you something as a way of saying thanks for saving my butt. By the way I had the good sense to get a replica space glove signed by Richard Gordon today and he let me take (his idea) the best picture of him wearing the glove and flipping me the bird with it that I could have ever imagined. I got pictures with everyone there today but thats the one I'll remember the most. |
