We're considering the LA Area for Spacefest VI. We welcome suggestions of non-union venues of sufficient size.NOTE: That's SIX (2014).

Though it would break from hosting Spacefest in a hotel or a resort, you might contact the California Science Center to see if they might be interested in partnering/hosting the event. By then, Endeavour will be well established on display and with Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spacecraft on display, would make for an appropriate venue. They have a meeting area, that can be sectioned as needed. I would just suggest waiting until mid-November to reach out, as their staff is singularly focused on the arrival and opening of Endeavour's exhibit now. |

I know its early but any news on any big guests? I'd love to have an excuse to "have" to go so it'd be great to hear that someone not normally associated with doing shows is going to be there. |

I like Robert's idea of holding #VI at the CA Science Center. However, and I feel this is critical, ONLY if there is an official event hotel that is within a five minute or less walk. One of the things that makes Spacefest special compared to other astronaut events is that people are all together in one place and there are many opportunities for a quick chat at the bar or hallway or patio. If the event is in a place that you need wheels to get to from the hotel, that cozy atmosphere will be lost and in my opinion makes the event much less interesting. I would be unlikely to go if the venue were far away from the hotel no matter the city. |

I quite liked the venue when Spacefest was held in San Diego, CA in 2009. |

Buzz's new book written with guest Leonard David, will be out in early May. We're trying to get him to Spacefest for a day to sign.ASF was Buzz' last public autograph show. Gene Kranz has bad arthritis in his hands, and doesn't sign. |

Not that I know of, but there are people who are sometimes willing (for a modest fee) to take your items to get signed. I did this with Steve Gruber (who I don't know personally but who is a member here) for Spacefest III and he did a great job. |

I can vouch for Steve. He got a couple items signed for me last time. it was incredibly fast on the return and exactly how I would have done it,. He even included photos of the signing which I didn't even ask for! Great service at a very very fair price! |

In relation to Kim's mention of a large contingent of Aussies attending Spacefest (including me), one first-time attendee will be my "Fallen Astronauts" co-author, Kate Doolan. So if you'd like to have your book co-signed by Kate just bring it along. |

Need advises (first time comer).I have purchased a package and I am going to the fest with my 7 year old daughter. She is thrilled at the prospect of seeing the real moonwalkers but she is 7. Any advice on transportation (coming from Canada), kid's care, activities for 7 year old kid etc. are very welcome. Thank you in advance. |

I will say the pool is quite nice. In fact there are three pools I believe. One of them is a lazy river with a water slide. That is my favorite. You gotta go heavy on the sun block there though. Your child may make friends at the pool area though and give them hours of fun. Kids that age only need about 10 seconds to become good friends with like aged children.Other than that I am not sure about other amenities for children at that resort. |

The Starr Pass resort has what looks like a nice child care option for kids of that age. I didn't bring my son, and he would have been too young, but it looked like it was worth checking into. If you will need someone to look after her during the day, I would contact the resort and get more info. And yes, the lazy river and the water slide are quite nice. Both of you will love the pool area. |
