He spent a little time explaining to my son and I about the docking problems on 14 after lift off. Its great to read about these problems and how they solved them, but hearing it from the man himself was awesome to say the least. A great aproachable gent, well worth meeting. |

As I think I posted before, that's three down (Apollos 11, 12 and 14) and three to go. (Eight if you want to be greedy and include a representative from every Apollo mission, not just the six landing missions).Didn't someone once say: "Greed is good"?Of course, seven astronauts could represent all eleven missions... |

I'm with Geoffrey Gecko on this one. You can't have too many Apollo guys at Autographica. Get to see them while you can! |

Just came across this, but Martin Landau is also a guest for Autographica 18.I wonder if he'll be wearing sleeves with different colours a la Commander Koenig? |

This is looking like a great show. Martin Landau is a great win and brings back childhood memories of the brilliant Mission Impossible and Space 1999 (maybe even North by Northwest for some!). |

Just a thought: I wonder if Dave and Jason had thought about a 'Four Apollo Photoshoot'? That'd be worth having! |

I'd certainly be interested if they did run something along those lines. There was a group photo with all the space guests last time which was one of the highlights of the show for me. I don't know if they were testing the water with that one or if it was just a one-off but it would be great to see it repeated.

We are indeed doing a group photo shoot with the astronauts this year and are working on the details.Last year's group shot took us a bit by surprise as it was only intended and open to people who had booked the Buzz Aldrin photoshoot. So many people asked for a ticket but we kept it exclusive. This year we will be doing an open to all group photoshoot. However this will probably not include Buzz Aldrin as he is only doing the individual shoot. Details will be released later and it will certainly sell out quickly so please keep an eye on the website. |

I am all new to Autographica, and am certainly excited about the photoshoot with Buzz Aldrin, but will he be doing signings too? I have a big photo with signatures from all Apollo landings except Apollo 11. |

I myself cant wait and I'm very happy to see that Dick Gordon is charging just £30. I have a Revell Command module just waiting to signed by him. Any word in that case if Al Worden may be joining us also? It would be great to add his too? |

I see the Autographica forum has listed a new guest for the October show - Robert Springer - STS-29 and STS-38. Great news. I saw STS-38 launch from the Cape so it will be nice to meet one of the crew... its also nice to see an increase in the shuttle era astronauts. Now if we could just get a few of the Europeans over.... |

I have never ever been to one of these events in my life (sad but true) so not sure what to expect, there will be me my missus and my two boys attending if I buy the tickets. My questions are, which may be stupid, but do you get to shake the hands of the astronauts and also can you take your own pictures of meeting theses legends? Like I said probably stupid questions but I have never done this before. Cheers for any input. |

The Arrow will be there too! You thought you had seen the last of me, but you would be wrong. Wrong, I say! I'm back!!Sorry, got a bit carried away, there. Having been unavoidably detained on the hot, sunny French Riviera last year, I am looking forward to another Autographica weekend. Lock up your cider! |

I think the general rule of thumb would be that if you are buying an autograph from an astronaut, then a handshake is not usually out of the question. If you are not buying something then it may be possible but usually better to wait until they have no queue as paying customers will usually get priority. As for photographs with the astronauts, that can vary from person to person. Some will allow posed photos at their signing table, some will allow you to take photos while they are signing your item but won't pose with you, some may not allow photos at all and some may not allow flash photography. There should be signs up indicating any restrictions on photos though so it will be clear what the position is when you get to the table. I can't remember what Edgar Mitchell was doing at the last show photo wise, but I would expect Buzz to be at the lean end of the photo scale, I would be surprised if he posed at the table but I would hope you would be able to snap while he signs so to speak. If memory serves, Charlie Duke did pose at the table last time and I've not met Dick Gordon or either of the Shuttle guests before so couldn't comment on them. A bit like the handshakes, its usually the done thing to buy something from the astronaut if you are looking for a photo with them. The other thing to consider is that Showmasters do have the facility to have a professional photo taken with the astronauts for a fee, although the price is per person in the photo rather than per photo so if you had a family group it could work out a bit more expensive! I'm probably making this sound a lot more draconian than it is and on the whole the event is very relaxed and enjoyable but these are the sorts of things that can cause niggly issues on the day if one doesn't know the full situation from the start. And to answer the earlier question I will be there for the whole weekend albeit not the Paul referred to in Mr B's post! |

Thank you for your response which was very helpful, I have now decided that it would probably be best for me to purchase the photoshoots for all the astronauts so to guarantee a meet and greet with them.Hoping to be there on the Saturday so hopefully will get to meet some of you. I will be the small chap with the NASA hat and the collectSPACE polo shirt on. |

I'll be there on Saturday only. Driving down from Jockland as the flight times from Flybe are shockingly bad. The best I could do would get 4 hours from landing to being back at the airport to fly home. So will drive down.... its cheaper, quicker and less hassle. I can go door to door quicker in the car than is possible to go door to door via car/plane/taxi. Hope to see y'all there! |

I'm going down on the Sunday from Edinburgh and the flights times are just awful... The earliest will get me down there at 12 noon. I have mailed Dave at Autographica asking if I can still be admitted after the 11 a.m. stated on my tickets. |

I can't see that being a problem, people are coming and going from the show all day, I think all the 11am thing means is you can't get in before then.Speaking of Dave, he mentioned to me this morning that he has arranged a deal with the hotel so that we can get a 20% discount on drink and food prices at the hotel bar if we show our passes. Knocks a little bit off the price of the weekend! |
