Afghan cosmonaut Abdulahad Mohmand will have a public appearance during the "Intergalactic Space Days" during the Sindelfingen Stamp Fair in late October. For more details, see Sightings here on collectSPACE.The organizers have decided to accommodate also those who cannot personally attend the the event. In other words: for a donation and return postage, you can request signed portrait cards through the mail. That's how it works: - You can ask for 1 to 3 signed photo cards (see below for example). You can NOT ask for unsigned cards.
- Your request should be accompanied by a donation - your choice how much. Your donation should be send in mint stamps (your country). No personal checks, please. The donation serves to finance youth philately in the region.
- Your request needs to be accompanied by a addressed and stamped return envelope roughly sized 5" to 7" or larger. German Postage is 1,45 Euro within Germany, 3,00 Euro within Europe, and 6,00 Euro worldwide. If you do not have German stamps, please include the appropriate amount in cash or mint stamps.
- Your request must reach the organizers by October 17 at the latest.
- Your signed photocards will be sent straight from the Sindelfingen fair on October 25, using a pictorial postmarker (40th Anniversary Moon Landing or 400th Anniversary of Kepler's Astronomia Nova - your choice).
- This is the address to use:
LR Süd-West Kennwort Autogrammkarte c/o Bodo A. von Kutzleben Franz-Werfel-Strasse 26 60431 Frankfurt am Main Germany I think this is an excellent opportunity to obtain a rare cosmonaut autograph - and a very generous gesture from the side of the organizers. Of course the generosity can be returned - by generous donations... |

Thanks Juergen for the posting!I may add that Mohmand is not only there for a signing session AT NO CHARGE but he basically attends the stamp show on ALL THREE DAYS in the "kid's corner" - he's also making the official opening. He's said to bring his own son with him as well. Over 15000 kids were invited to attend the special event, so this is going to be one of the biggest events for young space interested kids and future collectors in the recent years. One can only applaud Mr. Mohmand for making himself available so generously in these days with ever-rising signing fees and professional shows. As one of the initiators I also want to thank Juergen for supplying a larger package of space covers to be given out to young kids there as part of the raffle. ------------------ Flown artifacts, autographs and more ! www.spaceflori.com |

Is there any way to get a couple of signed 8x10's forwarded with adequate return postage and donation or is it strictly the photocards? |

The organizer said anything can be signed but they only provide smaller photocards. If you want to get anything 8x10 signed (limited to three pieces) - please send to me with appropriate return postage. |

Just wanted to let everybody know that Afghan cosmonaut Mohmand finished signing all photocards, glossies and covers that had been sent in by collectSPACE members this afternoon. Florian Noller did a wonderful and careful job preparing all the requests for him to sign. Where personalized inscriptions were requested, Mohmand provided them. Florian will ship all the requests tomorrow from the special post office there, using the pictorial postmarker commemorating the 400th Anniversary of astronomer Johannes Kepler. (The pictorial cancel to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the 1st Moon Landing, alas, had alas been retracted.) Thanks to Florian for the excellent idea to invite cosmonaut Mohmand to the Sindelfingen Stamp Fair, and to him and Bodo von Kutzleben and of course Mohmand himself for the excellent autographing opportunity. |

Received photos and cards despite the Royal Mail disruptions. Thank you Florian and Juergen for making this possible. Trust you had a great show. |
