I can do that as well. Can someone give me an idea of how many would be needed? Also... does someone have an estimate on how many Griffin shots would cover the demand? |

Over the years, I have had so much fun meeting and getting to know Gene Kranz and Sy Liebergot at these shows, meeting Gerry should be great, too. I would love to meet John Aaron and Steve Bales one day, too. They are all very interesting controllers who have wonderful stories to tell. Those guys in the trench were as much as a part of the team as the guys sitting on top of the Saturns, Titan, Atlas and Redstone. |

Thanks for the reminder of Billy Watkins excellent book on Unsung Heroes. I have the book signed by Fred Haise, Rodney Rose, Joe Schmitt, and Rosemary Roosa. Gerry will be a great addition! |

I agree with you, Tracy. While I've had much fun meeting you all, having Gerry Griffin, John Aaron, Steve Bales, Jerry Bostick, etc. would be a unique experience for everyone. I say unique, as we seem to be quickly passing from the scene. I'll get to see some of them again at the Austin Film festival this weekend -- Ron Howard is being honored. |

Bill Pogue has unfortunately had to cancel due to a family commitment. Owen Garriott has just been added to the show. Michael Dorn has also now confirmed his attendance. |

Regarding the Up Close tour tickets - you can only buy them online in conjunction with KSC admission tickets. What happens if you already have a KSC pass? |

You call the reservations number listed on the KSC web site and reserve JUST the Up Close tour telling them that you already have an admission ticket. You'll pick it up at one of the will-call booths. |

I've been looking at the covers I've recently bought. I'd like Dave Scott's signature multiple times. Are they up for deals on the day or is it a fixed price? Any "buy five get one free" deals? I know silly question but... |

Just a thought... when you are standing at Dave Scott's desk (or Al Bean's, or Gene Cernan's or any of the others) try to focus at least for a moment on what the man did, rather than your desire for a supermarket BOGOF deal. |

BOGOF is a good idea; I'd be sure to mention it. These shows are all about business - ask Buzz Aldrin. |

I think the point that Geoffrey is making is that if you approach the show as primarily a chance to meet and talk with the astronauts, than regardless of how many autographs you get or not get, you will still walk away successful. And if you bemoan the show being "all about business", then there is no better way to affect change than by relegating the business aspects to your secondary motivation for attending and embrace what comes free from just being there. |

I'm fully aware of what they did, as my growing book collection keeps telling me. I've been buying stuff recently and would like it signed, some to sell, some to keep, hopefully the selling will pay towards the stuff I keep.I'm looking forward to meeting them, but don't expect anything more than a "hello". Surely time is money with people lined up. I've also only got limited time there maybe four hours. |

Good to hear about Owen Garriott coming to the show-- never have had a chance to meet him. Trivia question: For what Apollo mission was Owen Garriott a CAPCOM? |

lm5eagle is correct!Garriott was an official CAPCOM for Apollo 11, along with Bruce McCandless (launch), Charlie Duke (landing) and Ron Evans (LM launch). Other astronauts also took their turns at the mike such as back-up LM pilot Fred Haise and Ken Mattingly. |

Perhaps you would prefer your own table and they could line up in front of you? And if you feel so inclined you might say "hello" to them. There's a topic around here called "Fondest Personal Spaceflight Memories" or something like that. I suggest you read it. Many of them involve people meeting astronauts at readings, lectures, and autograph shows. I think you'll find that most, if not all, of the astronauts are more than happy to have a friendly chat, about a variety of topics. I understand you want items signed, but it's just a signature. It's just ink on a bit of paper. Having a chat with someone like Alan Bean is priceless. p.s. If I were you, I wouldn't ask Dave Scott for a deal. I have not met the man, but from what I have heard he is a polite but firm stickler for the rules about these things. |

From personal experience, I've found Dave Scott to be fairer than his reputation might indicate. I would wait until he has no line, then present your offer. |

These shows however, are not intended for dealers. Those who desire to sell the astronauts' autographs should be contacting them directly and working out the details in private. |

Does anyone know how the seating arrangements will be done for the Apollo 12 dinner? I understand the Platinum plus and Platinum are taking priority but I wondered if there might be a provision for Gold ticket holders. |

Great to see these, Ed - thanks. The 2nd and 3rd Dee O'Hara images are new ones to me, and even Dee doesn't own copies of them(!) She believes that they were taken before Al Shepard's Mercury flight when they were doing a comm check - perhaps you or JL know for sure.Incidentally, I'll second the comment that Gerry Griffin is a lot of fun... and just as many people look up to the astronauts, many astronauts look up to Gerry. |

If he wants to identify as a dealer and offer his acquisitions for sale to people who can't make the show, fine. However, Robert is correct: the show is not geared towards dealers and ASF is not the appropriate forum for him to stock up on his wares. I personally think he's missing out on the best part of the experience, but that's his loss. |

Okay, I'll play it by ear on the day.Just to make it clear I'm not a dealer, I want to get a bunch signed and sell the odd one, whether its 2 weeks later or 10 years later. If they don't sell, then I'll just have more in the collection. If I sell some for a small profit, it'll let me buy more unique stuff. Everyone just chill out and relax. |

Does anyone have any idea how many of the M-G-A Skylab astronauts have read the Outward Odyssey seris books? Just curious as these great books would make a good topic to begin a coversation at the ASF event. For instance, does Alan Bean take out time from his painting to read these great books? |

I see Lovell's completion fee has been "clarified" to $100 on top of the base of $175.I'm hoping that the stated additional completion fee for Dick Gordon is wrong and that the base fee is $75/completion $150 (as opposed to $225 ). |

On a completely separate track. I'm looking to add some additional signatures to a multi-signed globe and don't like sending it through the mail anymore. Does anyone have experience taking one of the standard 12 inch globe on-board a plane? Does it fit in the overhead compartment. If anyone has any experience with this I'd appreciate your advice. |

You can NEVER tell these days what the TSA will do. Plan on packing it securely just in case they nab it from you and throw it down below, at least you'll know its fairly safe.If they let you carry it on board, consider your prayers answered. You may want to consider shipping it to a friend in Florida (if you have one) that may be willing to accept it and bring it up to the show for you. I hand carried a 3' long Saturn V model in a flower box from the Burbank show years ago. You can imagine what that looked like going through the X-Ray machine. Upon being questioned, I explained what it was, and that it had on it a dozen signatures of Apollo moonwalkers. When I offered to open it up for them, they just smiled, and let me carry it on board. It was packed pretty well just in case the baggage (mis)handlers got a hold of it. Good luck and have fun! |

I hope he will not mind me posting this segment.I recently had a very nice conversation with Ron Woods. Many may know who Ron is but for those that do not; Ron was (and still is) the overseer of the flight crew equipment. Ron was the gentleman who helped Jim Lovell suit up during Apollo 8 and Buzz Aldrin for Apollo 11 and Bob Crippen for STS 1 amongst others. He took part of history as it was being made. He is also one of my very favourite space artists. A real talent, his main focus is still life paintings of the space equipment and suits he has worked on for many years. Ron advised me he may have some of his prints available at the ASF show if he can work out the logistics. For those who have not seen his paintings, in my opinion he is one of the very best artists in the field. I hope he is able to attend the show and I urge anyone interested in unique space art to take a look at his paintings, you will not be disappointed. For more information on Ron please see Space Artist Draws from Experience. |
