Thanks to Robert for inviting me to share the cS space. I'll be offering my commemorative patches along with some surprises. I have a limited number of the following patches: - Apollo 10 40th commemorative commissioned by the Science Museum of London
- Expedition 17 name patches (remember our cS special order?)
- Expedition 22 name patches
- Al Stevens Apollo Set (at a special show discount)
- Florida Young Astronaut
- US Young Astronaut
The patches listed are all limited editions. Oh and if you want me to autograph any of the patches I have designed - my fee is $500 per letter and if it's a completion that Jorge has already signed - $2,000. Tim (just kidding about the fee) |

I will be at the ASF on this weekend. My brother is an aviation artist and just finished a beautiful painting, "we were there", showing the CSM in moon orbit. I'll bring along four numbered prints (of only 25) 297 × 420 mm. Each available for $60.00.If interested please contact me: phone 0041 (0)78 707 19 42. You can see the print on my website. |

I think the 100% increase in base fee from 2007 to 2008 pretty much says all that needs to be said about "supply and demand". In my humble opinion he's just being greedy... his signature is worth (on a portrait or similar item) at tops $180-$195 and one can still find items for much less than that. If he'd come out of hiding to do a signing I could see the need for a $350 or so signature but Buzz must have signed more items over the years than just about all the other astronauts attending shows put together. I remember last year where he'd crossed out $20 per word inscription fee and replaced it with $50 per word at last years ASF show (I have a photo of the price list)... definitely sickening to have collectors treated this way. I got something from every astronaut last year except Buzz and it wasn't like I couldn't afford it. I just didn't WANT another encounter with the man... he was off with me the last time at Spacefest, just plain rude. |

One thing that really sticks in my head is the line from Buzz's "Magnificent Desolation": "...the business is Buzz!" Yeah, they all make money doing this, but when do you ever hear a story about Alan Bean being rude (get real, the man's a saint!), or Charlie Duke signing an item without even making eye contact? It seems like with Buzz it is a business and that is it! I will give Buzz credit, I have never heard of him being unfriendly towards children, but I personally am leery of spending such a large sum of money on what might turn out to be a really disappointing experience. I think I will try to say hello to him at some point this weekend and be happy with that. I'm flying down tomorrow and I am so excited! |

Arrived Wednesday evening, went to the bar: not a cS'er in sight! I did however have a very pleasant 45 minutes with Scott Carpenter and his wife. Met Mel Croft on the Up Close tour and looking forward to meeting a few of you tomorrow in the bar. |

The ASF website has been updated to officially show Neil Armstrong as an attendee at the Apollo 12 40th Anniversary dinner.I am looking forward to hearing him and the other speakers. See you Saturday night (my flight doesn't get in until Saturday afternoon)! |

I am flying down to the show this evening. I attended last year and the Sims and Hankow show in 2007. I have several items that have been signed but would like to have words added this go round. Is it customary to repay the base fee or just pay the added word fee? |

Not sure if any cSers will be checking the site while they're at the show but hey it's worth a shot. I've decided last minute that I'd like to try to attend the Apollo 12 dinner tomorrow night and it is feasible to make it down there today. However, I cannot purchase tickets on the website any more and no one is answering the ASF phone since they're all at the show. Would a cSer who is already there or who is arriving today be willing to find out if you can purchase a dinner ticket on site? I realize this is poor planning on my part but I figure it would be worth a shot. Please email me at cshores@gmail.com if you can offer any info. Thanks cSers! |
