Does anyone know how far the Raddisson At the Port is away from the actual ASF show venue.Just need to know if is walkable with lots of heavy boxes of prints for our stand, or if it will need driving there? Thanks Mike Constantine http://moonpans.com |

Mike -- I'm afraid walking isn't going to work. The autograph sessions are at the Kennedy Space Center, which, according to Map Quest, is about a 28 minute drive from the hotel.Lisa ------------------ spaceychick spaceychick.com |

There is parking on the property, but the lot closest to the hall where the autograph show will be staged is usually closed unless arrangements are made in advance. It may be in your interest to contact the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation to inquire about loading and unloading options. |

I think if I am not mistaken the Radisson Web site, listed under Services is says. "As a courtesy we also provide transportation within our local area and to the Kennedy Space Center." If this is the case it may suit you needs. Best regards Alan |

So I guess that means that Cernan and Cunningham will not be at the dinner on Saturday. That is a bummer. |

I just talked with the ASF crew down in Florida and while Mr. Cernan has to leave on Saturday due to a family obligation, Mr. Cunningham will be there for the dinner.Don't forget that the ASF auction opens tomorrow. They have some nice items! Leon |

The autograph show is only on Friday and Sunday, not Saturday. So my guess is that Cernan and Cunningham will attend the Friday show and the Saturday activities, but will depart before the Sunday autograph show. Granted, you may wish to check with the ASF to confirm this...in the event either of these guests is the primary reason for your attendance. (On edit: I see Leon and myself posted at the same time and Leon has better information about who is attending the dinner.)

Do Gold Pass holders get any choice of dinner seating? I saw upthread that the Platinum Pass holders got their arrangements already, but I haven't heard anything and ASF hasn't answered my emails on this point. |

I just saw that Dick Gordon has been removed from the show's lineup. Being that his base price was posted just a short time ago, does anyone know what's going on and if everything is okay with him?I also never found out why Carr canceled either. |

Dick Gordon is fine (per the ASF) but will not be attending the show. Jerry Carr had a date conflict and will be out the country. |

I spoke to the ASF regarding another matter today and they advised me that Dick Gordon is fine, however a member of his family was ill which was the reason he had to cancel. All the best to him and his family. |

Sadly, it seems it isn't going to happen this time, unless Ed Gibson can be persuaded to attend.

So is it official that Pogue is not attending? Would be nice (and not unreasonable) if the ASF could give an update either here or on their website, rather than just deleting people from the main list. |

Doing some last minute planning regarding what to bring to the show to get signed. I've got all my major items covered, just doing some thinking regarding books. Does anyone have a sense of who will be signing books free of charge - budgets are tight? In the past, Cernan signed his book for free at shows (not saying that will occur this time). Anyone of the other attendees tend to do this as well? These things weight a ton and don't want to drag them if it doesn't make sense. Thanks Rob |

I wouldn't expect any of the astronauts will sign their books for free at this event. Cernan and Scott have apparently stopped signing their books for free. Kerwin is charging to sign his new Skylab book. Lovell and Aldrin charge to sign their books. Sometimes they will charge less at mail-in signings to sign their books, but there is no info posted about special books fees at the ASF site, so you should assume the normal base fee applies. Some astros (like Mullane) will sign their books for free TTM. But I suspect even he will charge his $20 fee at the show for books, since the money is being raised for the ASF. |

When I e-mailed the ASF, they said they will have something set up to take credit cards...but they didn't say whether it would be a ticket system or whether the astros would have credit card machines at their tables. |

The ASF fee chart advised that Gene Cernan will be charging $100 for books. Other than that the only other author not on the list that I have heard may attend is Francis French. Robert advised some time ago he may be there to assist Dee O'Hara. Perhaps Francis can advise us on that? |

I will indeed be there - I'm not a VIP Guest, of course, just there to assist Dee, who is.As ever, I am very happy to sign any and all copies of "Into That Silent Sea" and "In the Shadow of the Moon" that anyone wants to bring along. Naturally, at no charge. It will be fun to sign them at a site where so much of the history in the book took place. Looking forward to meeting some new faces and seeing old friends. |

Hi Alan,I am really only there to help Dee and thus the ASF in raising money for themselves, and so won't have copies of my books for sale. I did hear there is the possibility the KSC store might have them during this event, but I don't know for sure. So I would definitely recommend obtaining them before the event / bringing existing copies, and I'll be delighted to sign them for free. There is, of course, also the opportunity during this event to get the books signed by Walt Cunningham, who wrote the foreword of the second book, Scott Carpenter and Dee O'Hara, to whom the books are dedicated, and many others who are featured in the books... and support the ASF that way. Thanks for asking!! |

Unfortunately, due to a development this week that will require my presence elsewhere, I have had to cancel my attending and collectSPACE exhibiting at the show this weekend. I had greatly looked forward to seeing many of you and sharing for the first time some of the plans that are now in place for our 10th anniversary, as well as live blogging the show for those who could not be there. As I now fall into that category as well, I will greatly look forward to the stories and photos shared by those in attendance. |
