The problem might be if you are trying to book outside of the four night window the discount code applies for. When I tried they were only offering discount for 6-9th so the code didn;t work if the booking was outside of those dates. When I rang they were very helpful and offered another form of discount rate to do the booking for the days that weren't covered by the ASF show dicount, ensure I didn't pay extra and meant I didn't need to shift rooms over the period of my stay. Great service which bodes well for the stay.Cheers Craig |

The website wouldn't let me get the group rate for the King Suites, but I was able to do so over the phone. Very friendly and accommodating. |

Due to long term illness in our family we will not be attending the November show.I have two Platinum Tickets available at face value. If you want them I will have the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation change it to your name. The foundation did ask that they be notified soon to change the ticket. |

The schedule shows STS-126 launching at the same date and time. Surely there must be a typo with the launch times. |

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex's launch schedule is well meaning but not very well maintained.Spaceflight Now maintains the most updated launch schedule. As of today, there are three November launches: - Nov. 10 - Shuttle Endeavour - ISS ULF2
- Nov. 13 - Delta 2 - STSS Demo
- Nov. 24 - Atlas 5 - LRO

Hello, I’ve purchased a platinum ticket for this event. The woman at ASF I spoke with (Edna) was exceedingly helpful with my first few questions, but I had a few more I thought I’d post here instead of calling her back to inundate her again. I’ll post them in order of importance to me, and I’ll appreciate any responses:1. This will be the first trip my wife and I will be taking with the baby we’re expecting in August. My parents are coming too. The four of them will probably be going to just the autograph show, which means that for three days they’ll want to do relaxing resort things. Is anyone familiar with the official hotel for this event, the Radisson Resort at the Port? Is it indeed the kind of place where someone would be happy hanging out for much of a day? The pool looks great, but are there other things to do there? And what is nearby, besides Disney World and Universal Studios? 2. Would we be able to give the four KSC annual passes to someone after the weekend? We won't be able to come back in the next year. I’d hate for them to go to waste for 361 days. 3. I noticed that "Cost of the ticket packages, over fair market value, is considered a charitable donation." Could anyone tell me what the fair market value is? Will they be saying that later? I love the idea that much of the admission is going towards scholarships, and I’ll also love getting that tax deduction. 4. To what deities should I pray to if it will increase the chance that the launch date for shuttle Endeavour will remain November 10? I mean, I’ve taught Sunday school, but if it’s some obscure Shinto god, I’m there. 5. And finally, I’m just curious: I read “Apollo 13 crew Fred Haise and Jim Lovell will be signing together.” Does anyone know what that means? Surely not that you can only get something signed by both of them. Thanks, Steve |

Hi Steve. I was just out there on the Space coast a few weeks ago for the first time in years. The KSC was my main attraction of course along with the Astronaut Hall of Fame, but there is not much else really besides the beach. Dont get me wrong, the Space coast is my favourite part of Florida for obvious reasons, but aside from a few small water parks and such there is not much around there. My wife liked shopping on International Drive outside Orlando and my daughter loved the parks, in particuler the the new water park Aquatica which is part of Seaworld. But I was there for the shuttle launch and they were their for the parks. There is a great little place in Cocoa Beach, Captain J's. It does not look like much when you walk in the but the food and service is great and NASA tv is always running. But obviously KSC is the main attraction. We are heading there for the show with our four year old. |

You could go fishing, boating, swimming ... or just sit on the beach drinking a mai tai with a little umbrella in it and listen to the waves crash on the beach. Not a bad way to pass an afternoon ...------------------ John Capobianco Camden DE |

I'm not sure how predictable this will be in advance. Sometimes ASF charges above the "going rate" for autographs ... and most people don't mind paying extra because the money goes to a great cause. My point is, past autograph shows may not be a reliable yardstick for how much autographs at this particular show will cost -- this is all speculation on my part, though, as I have no inside information. ------------------ John Capobianco Camden DE |

According to the ASF web site, "a price list will be published at least 30-days prior to the show." So, in that regard, we will have some prior notice on what we can expect to pay.If one wants to go on their recent past history, Lovell and Haise will probably charge in the ballpark of $150 and $75, respectively. Actual prices might be different, of course...depending on the preferences of the astronaut and the show organizers. |

Thanks again. Thats great. It gives me a ball park figure. If those numbers are close they are better than I thought they might be and it is a good cause. Thanks again. |

$75 sounds a bit high for Haise. Is that about what he charged at Autographica? It really makes you appreciate guys like Bean, Mitchell and Duke who walked on the moon but still charge reasonable rates. |

At Autographica the price for Fred Haise autograph was £45 or $90. Jim Lovell was £95 base fee (or $190). Haise's fee included inscriptions and to be honest I thought it was a good price. Charlie Duke and Alan Bean were both $75 per at Spacefest as I recall. You should also factor in that Charlie Duke, Alan Bean and Ed Mitchell have done countless numbers of shows.... Fred Haise has done 1. Considering the chances one might have to meet Fred Haise in the future versus the price that MIGHT be charged I would advise those wanting to meet him and get a signature to not miss the opportunity. |

That's a good point... Bean, Duke and Mitchell have done a lot of shows over the years. I seem to remember them charging in the $40-$50 range at the UACC shows I've attended. I guess I just think their signatures will always be more desired than those of someone who never walked on the moon, save for maybe Lovell or the Mercury astronauts. Depending on my cash flow situation (and any possible additions to the lineup) in the fall, I may go for Haise. Jamie |

Of course I would love to have the budget for a good many of them, but for now Lovell Haise are the priority and likely a moon walker (Charlie Duke) and or Dick Gordon (I hope he is doing well). I also would like to get Guenther Wendt to sign his book. |

Think of it this way...none of their signatures are particularly rare. These guys have been signing stuff for the better part of 40-45 years now. My advice is to collect signatures from the guys you admire the most (and whose signatures YOU desire the most)...and, of course, that your budget will allow for. |

From past experience, the guys are very accommodating with people who simply wish to shake their hand, get a picture with them, or ask a question. My advice, though, is to be respectful enough to wait until there is no line of people waiting to pay for an autograph. ------------------ John Capobianco Camden DE |

I am planning on attending the Autograph show in November. I have a nice 16 x 20 photo of Skylab that I would like to get autographed by the remaining Skylab astronauts. I believe four are planning to attend the show and the rest may have to be done via mail except for Owen Garriott, who I understand doesn't like to sign. Would any of these guys have a problem signing a large photo like that? Do they have extra fees for multiple autographs or completions? Thanks! |

I believe Alan Bean still charges extra for signing photos greater than 8x10 through the mail. Otherwise, I don't think any of the other Skylab astronauts charge extra, but you might wish to write ahead of time to ask for current fees and policies. As for the in-person signing at the ASF, I doubt there will be extra fees for large format photos. And completions shouldn't be an issue either for the Skylab astros. (However, this is just my best guess...actual experience may vary.) |
