Hi Steve:Please consider posting each new announcement under its own heading for clarification rather than under the original post. There are infintely more of us that prefer this than those few complainers who voiced an opinion about too many posts, because notification of new guests independently is much more member-friendly and it is much easier to detect new guests at a quick glance. Remember, very few have complained about multiple posts. As for me, it's so much easier when each is announced under its own heading. Food for thought...thanks! Rob |

I agree Rob, although I don't think it was a problem here as much as it was for some on the e-group. I still don't understand what that was all about.James |

As moderator, I would prefer if we all minimize the number of duplicate posts on the same subject and use replies rather than new threads to post new information. While it may be sometimes convenient for new posts to appear each time a guest is announced (or a seller posts another item for sale, etc.) over the long term, it makes for a very unorganized message system and archive, with discussions segmented over several different areas. The generally-accepted message board etiquette dictates that new topics are only started for new subjects. Other moderators with whom I am familiar are far more unforgiving on this point - deleting any comment that strays from an existing thread. Instead, I have tried to nudge gently in this direction, by linking to established threads and then closing duplicate topics or by friendly suggestions like this one. |

Although not addressed to me, if you check Farthest Reaches web site from time to time, it is updated with that information. Just a thought.

I had posted something fairly elaborate here but decided leaving it would serve no useful purpose.[This message has been edited by farthestreaches (edited January 14, 2005).] |

Hi Rob,
I appreciate your comments but with all due respect, where were the voices of this vast majority of supporters you mention, when this was an active thread? Except for a very few, seemed that no one thought it was worthy of their support at that time. So what's changed since then? ------------------ Steve Hankow http://www.farthestreaches.com [This message has been edited by farthestreaches (edited January 15, 2005).] |

Hi Steve: From what Jimmy wrote, I understand the beefs about your multiple posts were on another board. Also, I'm incredibly busy with a new job and cannot check Collectspace as often as I used to- did not know this issue was discussed here before and I had no idea it was a sore spot. I was just trying to offer a helpful suggestion in a positive manner. Golly. I didn't expect arrows. Sorry, fellas- Forget I mentioned it. Rob |

We do. A very small handful of folks were getting upset at Steve whenever he would post something new concerning the upcoming NY show, one inparticular. Said she was sick and tired of all the constant show e-mails. I was surprised at her "attack" of Steve, considering she never has anything to say herself. I'm sure she's heard of the delete button. Personally, I'd like to be notified when new guests are confirmed, along with any other show information, and not have to go digging through old posts to get it. As long as they are kept in the "Autograph Show" catagory. Still, it's not my call. James |

If guest announcements were kept within the Autograph Show forum (which Steve has done), I would not have an objection to individual posts, though it would not be my preference. |

Steve/Nolan, have put a very large amount of work time and committment into the shows that they have run. The burbank show was a very well organized and presented show from the view of a person who flew all the way to LA from London to meet ang greet the heros that we all like to read about collect autographs and other items.so lets get behind them for the right reasons and stop pushing barriers up in front of the people that take the time to get the shows up and running and also Robert who keeps this site going, and i presume does not receive any rewards for doing this apart from alot of thanks from people who share the same intrests. Regards Paul [This message has been edited by paul prendergast (edited January 14, 2005).] [This message has been edited by paul prendergast (edited January 14, 2005).] |

I find it ammusing that a conversation about too many posts it getting so many posts...so I had to chime in with one myself.I don't care how many posts there are about guests, in whatever columns. This is always a fantastic show, the best there has ever been in my opinion, and to pick at it just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I guess I have too much time to spend browsing through the topics on CS compared to others!

Just one more opinion--I have no objection to the number of posts for these wonderful shows. I'm extremely glad I went to Burbank. Wish I could go to New York. If you haven't been to one....DO IT!!!!!! You won't regret it.------------------ Don |

I have no problem with posts about newly added guests. It's nice to read about other members who have met these astronauts in the past and have a story to tell. But just reading 'announcements' does get redundant. Surely Rizz and I are not the only members here who know that cS provides a link to the next UACC NY Show on the cS homepage. When you click on cS, instead of going directly to the Message board, take a second and look at the opposite side of your screen under 'Upcoming Events' and just click on the UACC link provided. Scroll down and you will see everyone who is confirmed to attend! Steve and Nolan are hard at work to get more astronauts and cosmonauts to attend and don't have time to read all of our posts. When someone confirms to attend it will be posted on the UACC site! Let these guys do what they do. It'll be better for everyone in the long run! |

I agree with paul, we should all just stay friendly because we all have the same beliefs, even though we are all different people, from different backgrounds, the point of this siteis to discuss our same interests. Derek |

We are pleased to announce that Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11, LMP has been confirmed as our latest celebrity guest. Buzz is being sponsored once again this year by collectSPACE and Countdown Creations. More guest announcements are forthcoming so join us if at all possible. This is promising to be another awesome event. Hotel accommodations and banquet tickets to dine with the Astronauts are in good supply for the moment, but suggest you not delay. Full details available by visiting: www.autographshows.net.

Fred Haise does not do commercial signings such as autograph shows. Better to catch him at something like the AHOF induction. - Derek
