German stamp auctioneer Ulrich Felzmann offers great astrophilatelic items in his forthcoming auction on 10.03.2017. You find a cover which landed with Apollo 14 on lunar surface. Another one was exposed to the vacuum of space during Apollo 16 lunar EVAs. Lot 6251 is a fascinating collection of 214 covers and letters with content which flew into space between 1972 and 2016. Some letters transported by a Space Shuttle or unmanned Dragon capsule were never offered before. You should have a look at each item here. They gladly send you free of charge a printed catalogue or a CD with pictures of all astrophilatelic items. |

Some of the prices are somewhat "overpriced" particulary for the single items.A single Titov, Nicolaev, Popovitch and Bykovsky Kniga signed cover at each 500 Euro ($550)? A flown newspaper cut at 10000 Euro? They are certainly not aiming at the educated space collector as it looks to me... |

Oh good, I wasn't the only one who noticed. |

Moreover, the minimum bid of some of the single flown items multiplies the price of my catalogue. Obviously the owner of each lot chose its limit himself. |

The lot 6251 is huge! What could be its reasonable price? |

In my opinion it is a fair minimum bid. If you send me an e-mail I gladly provide you with an excel sheet of all items including catalogue values. |

Well I hope you get what you're asking for, but I doubt you'll get it from anyone here. Best of luck! |

Richard, thank you for your wishes. I feel, it pays to have a look at this collection - also if you cannot take bidding into consideration. |

I see them greatly overpriced even the regular items that one can find easily available for much less money. Good luck and happy bidding! Such initial pricing makes a hobby of collecting space mail much less attractive for a common collector. But nothing personal - just business. |

Lot 6251 sold for 90,500 EUR + 20% premium which is $116,000 USD for the buyer.Apollo 14 cover landed on the moon fetched 24,000 EUR. Apollo 16 cover landed on the moon and exposed to the vacuum of space during lunar EVAs fetched 45,000 EUR. Most of the other lots did not sell. |

I noticed that many lots went for the lower amounts than declared starting price. I have almost zero experience with auctions, just took part in a couple of recent ones. I wonder how the lower than starting price bids can be submitted by the internet bidders? For example, there are several unsold items that I would consider for lower bids. |

This differs from auction to auction.Felzmann usually sells unsold lots for 90% of minimum bid. |
