I see -- in advance of their April Space and Aviation Auction -- that RR has a great selection of over 130 lots of autographs, memorabilia, and flown artifacts for their March monthly auction, which just went live. Some amazing items and cool, vintage signed letters, too. Makes me wonder just what kind of cool stuff they'll have up there for April! |

Just so you know, RR is being sued right now by some guy out in California who took the autographs he bought through RR to JSA for authentication. JSA said they could not authenticate them. He asked for his money back per RR's lifetime guarantee. He is suing to get his $90,000 back. After the lawsuit was filed, RR withdrew its lifetime guarantee on the items they offer for auction.Just to be clear, none of the items in question were space related. Steve Zarelli is not a party to the lawsuit. I've bought numerous astronaut signed photos through RR in the past with no hesitation, and I will continue to do so in the future, as long as it comes with a Zarelli COA. I will however wait until the lawsuit clears up before I bid on any of their other items. |

This will not stop me from buying anything space related so long as it comes with a COA from Steve. That said, nothing on the current auction interests me.I do however question RR's decision to remove the lifetime guarantee for anything non-space related. It doesn't exactly show confidence in their ability to spot fakes. On that basis I myself won't be bidding on any other category. A shame really as I have been looking for Einstein, Bohr and Darwin. |

To clarify, RR Auction's current terms and conditions: items pre-certified by RR are under warranty for a period of 5 years, so long as the item remains in possession of the original winning bidder. Further: The bidder, as well as their heirs, successors and assigns, is also given an unconditional lifetime guarantee that allows the present owner of any lot purchased through RR Auction the right to consign with RR Auction. In other words, after the five years expires, RR Auction will sell the piece for you, if it was originally accompanied by an RR COA. |

Michael Johnson's attempt to modify his suit to be a class action has been rejected: Boston memorabilia house RR Auction emerged victorious from a Santa Barbara, California courtroom Friday, when an attempt to bring a class action lawsuit against the company failed the basic tests; including that no one wanted to join the lawsuit.Superior Court Judge Donna Geck shot down the attempt by Michael Johnson and his lawyer, Dugan Kelley of Christman Kelley & Clarke, to certify the class action in a tentative ruling posted two days before. Johnson's lawyers didn't object to the Court's ruling during the March 13 hearing that lasted only a few minutes. ...the law firm later sent out a press release, stating that "In spite of the Court's ruling on class certification, Mr. Johnson and his attorneys, Christman, Kelley & Clarke PC, are moving forward with Mr. Johnson's lawsuit against R&R Auction." But RR Auction was relieved after hearing Judge Geck's ruling. A troublesome chapter in its history has ended. "We're very pleased with the outcome," said Keith Attlesey after the decision. "It puts to rest a lot of attacks that Johnson and others have made against RR Auction's sterling reputation." |

Thanks for sharing, Robert. As Robert indicated, a judge has rejected the class action lawsuit against RR Auction. There are two sides to every story. Up to this point, we have only heard the plaintiff's side, who aggressively marketed in a failed attempt to get others to join the class action. For those who want more details, please see the article at Autograph Magazine Live. In full disclosure, I am the space consultant for RR Auction. To reiterate an earlier posting, the handful of items in dispute were modern entertainment — there were no space items in dispute. | |
