On the GSA auction site, it seems NASA is auctioning off external tank transport pallets. One lot estimated to consist of 4 ET transporter pallets approx. 75' long, 30' wide at the widest point, approx. 15' tall at the tallest point the rest of the pallet is approx. 10' wide and 3' tall and the weight is unknown. This property will have to be cut and disassembled at the site. The successful bidder is required to submit a work instruction and safety plan prior to starting work. Winners will have to pick them up from the Michoud assembly facility in New Orleans. Currently, the action has no bidders, starting at the default price of $25. Closes 05/27 at 05:01 PM CT. Auction number 41QSCI11803002. This will be interesting...

I would so buy those for $25 if I could get a trailer large enough to bring them back to Jersey.... |

I can see that now: "For sale from Retro Space you can own a part of the External Tank transport pallets. [details go here]... for the low price of [something cheap please, like $25-$50]." Jokes aside, that is a good idea for an acrylic provided that Retro Space could get them. |

Those would make a lot of acrylics. |

Watch for who buys them. I bet they will cut them up for scrap. Rather too large to stick in the front yard.If the buyer is going to scrap them, then perhaps he would sell some pieces and the external tank transport pallet acrylic will be possible. |

Yeah. Considering the weathering of the paint and the lack of tires, they're probably intended to be scrapped. They sell scrap metal all the time on GSA auctions, as it's no longer of use to the government and it's more efficient to leave the obligation of removing/transporting it to the buyer. |

I think I might have a better chance of winning these than anything else in upcoming space auctions. |

Interesting, but not to look at. Frankly, I'd want the 76-wheel transporter used to haul the shuttle that was built for Vandenberg operations then later used at KSC. Or perhaps one of the Kamags used to transport SRB segments - at least that has a driver's cab. |

Sure... got the whole Sonoran desert to work with but anything shuttle isn't on my radar (hands are plenty full with M/G/A). |
