Fellow collectors: We began testing the eBay interface at 3:45 am this morning is and it is working. As such, we will be having Day 1 of our auction today beginning at 8:00 am PST. We thank all of you for your patience and forbearance with yesterday's eBay difficulties. We will be having Day 2 of this auction at a date and time to be announced soon - I will post to cS when the details for this are finalized. For the lots rescheduled for the new Day 2 session, the lot numbers will remain the same so please hang on to your catalog. Best regards, Victoria Campbell |

Victoria,I think you made a wise choice in delaying the second day auction and not trying to sell over two thousand lots today. It is very unfortunate that Ebay crashed and wrecked everyones plans for yesterday, but I appreciate your efforts for the sellers and bidders to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Now if the lots I am looking at come up when I can be around today, so much the better :-) Steve |

not that we'll ever hear it, but I'd LOVE to hear ebay explain how this could have happened without a backup plan.Good job, Victoria!!! Get some sleep tonight |

Does anyone know what number the auction today went thru? per messages here, I thought all day two items were suppose to be done at a later date? I received an e-mail from ebay stating I did not win a day two auction (#1122) auction, which should not have been done. however as I look at the history, it also showed a floor bidder won the item at $200, however, I placed an absentee bid of $200 on oct 20th which should be the winning bid as it was place earlier. |

Aurora choose about 350 lots from the WHOLE second day sale to include yesterday (mainly the more prominent items from Day 2) - so they are basically done with all lots.About 900 lots are remaining if my calculation is right (plus those unsold) - coming up saturday in an internet sale only. One thing....due to the ebay server crash the results on your "My ebay" etc. appear to be mixed up a bit....so I would definetely wait and see what confirmation you are getting from Aurora.Florian |

Thanks for the info. unfortunately, I'm not very happy with Aurora's decision to continue with day 2 auctions. Based on the e-mail that was send out and the message above, it gave the impression that day 2 auctions will be done at a later date, as a result, I did not pay too much attention to the auctions as most of my interest are in the day 2 items. I will wait and see what response, if any I get from Aurora. If the bidding history is correct, I hope aurora will honor the earlier absentee bids I made. |

Anyone besides me have trouble with the later part of the auction on Sunday as viewed on ebay live?My computer repeatedly gave me messages to the effect that the auction had not started yet when clicking on the "to participate" bidding link, even as I watched items in this same window sell at less than I had been willing to spend. VERY FRUSTRATING! Rover kosb |

I was following the auction live but from Victoria's postings above I understood that the Day 2 items would be listed on the day previously reserved for the 2nd chance items. That meant that once I'd finished following the Day 1 stuff I was interested in I logged off and went to sleep (1am). Now I realise that I missed out on all the Day 2 stuff I was going to bid on... |

Me too Must have been a long day for the Aurora team and they did well to recover from Ebay's lack of DR plan. I understand that facilities etc were only booked for the Sat & Sun, but it was disappointing to miss out on some fine Part 2 items when the could have gone to an internet only auction. Happy with my part 1 winnings though. Paul Bramley |

Glad Dave and Florian were ok with the feed. I tried three times with firefox and three times with IE, and each time got nowhere.Fortunately there will be a second chance on some things as many of the items I wanted were pulled from the day 2 list. For those who missed out because of similar problems or because of the whole reschedule thing, better luck next time. HAL won this round, but he will sing Daisy for us all too.....WE WILL BE BACK. Per Aurora: quote: Due to severe problems with Ebay's server this weekend, it will take additional time for us to review and approve the final winning bids results for the weekend. As such, please consider any emails you may have received from Ebay announcing that you have won lots in our auction as preliminary. Within the next week, You will be receiving an email from us confirming the actual lots you won and asking you to confirm your shipping address so that we can compute shipping charges.

Well... I won 8 days ago on Aurora's 10/22 auction the Apollo 11 Quarantine patch. I received an invoice from Aurora the 10/25 asking for my adress to calculate de s&h costs... And thats all. I wrote more than five times to them without answer... Is this the normal way for Aurora to make bussines? KAPTEC (stsnews) |

I suspect with the auction just being over this weekend, they are swamped with incoming/outgoing messages. Don't worry, Aurora is very reliable -- they will respond. It just may take a few days for the chaos to subside. ------------------ John Capobianco Camden DE |

Aloha It can take up to one month or more before you receive the item(s). Mine took two months - living in Hawaii can be slow.

Have the results of this auction been posted anywhere? |

You can access the result by doing an ebay search for "closed auctions" of the seller : "auroraintl" - however that is only available for a certain time like all ebay auctions. The final results will usually be posted in their next catalog (spring 2007 auction). eBay sent out a warning to all registered biddings that due to the problems they experienced on the first day of the scheduled auction, the results posted on their website were inaccurate: "any closing prices on the ended item pages are simply the starting prices of the items, and are not the actual sales price." It is unclear for how much of the auction, if not all of it, is/was affected. |

Robert is correct here, however for most day 1 items there are actually two results on ebay available - the one with the opening price and the actual realized price. You need to go through all pages available when doing a search....it's really a total mixup this time.Again for this auction you need to be careful with the results, but usually it works fine. I note for some lots there are tied winning floor and online bids for the Internet-only sale which obviously can't be correct so in addition to day 1 you have to consider all remaining bids as preliminary, too. Requests to Aurora about my bids remain unanswered to far. Florian |
