The Montblanc Meisterstück 149 and 149 statements by famous personalitiesA campaign by Montblanc and UNICEF against illiteracy
More than any other brand, Montblanc embodies "The Art of Writing". The culture of writing is its domain, its core competency. Founded on one of the oldest forms of human culture, writing, the company feels it has a moral and cultural duty to confront the global problem of illiteracy.
Together with UNICEF, Montblanc has therefore launched a worldwide campaign: 149 prominent personalities – including Mikhail Gorbachev, Harry Belafonte, Luciano Pavarotti, Bianca Jagger, Vivienne Westwood and many others – have agreed to take part by revealing their thoughts on the value and importance of writing.
These handwritten reflections under the slogan "Sign up for the right to write" will be sold at these international auctions.
All proceeds from this auction, as well as a donation from Montblanc of US $4,810 for each of the 149 statements (a figure chosen as a reference to the height of Mont Blanc itself), will go to the "UNICEF Initiative Against Illiteracy".
