SpaceX has been modifying Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to support Crew Dragon launches. As part of that work, a new emergency egress system has been installed and tested.

From Kiko Dontchev, SpaceX's vice president of launch (via X):

It's super exciting to show off the new emergency egress system at pad 40. The team took commercially available off the shelf technology and applied it to the crew tower.

You are trained on it the same way you are trained on using an emergency exit door on airplane. Only takes a couple of quick physical actions to deploy the slide and anyone can effectively do it.

This system will help us scale to bigger towers and spaceships (think 100 people on Starship). Great work by the SpaceX team and our partners at Space Launch Delta 45 and Kennedy Space Center to implement and certify the system!

All times are CT (US)
