SpaceX has thrown open the hatch to its Crew Dragon spacecraft, revealing a sleek black and white interior for the capsule it is building to fly astronauts to the International Space Station and other destinations.
"Step inside Crew Dragon," SpaceX invited on a new page of its website on Thursday (Sept. 10).

It appears rather devoid of functional items such as lockers for clothing and food preparation equipment.

The trays to the left of the lower mounted seat likely represent cargo stowage areas (and on NASA flights that fifth seat may be removed).

A couple of things stand out to me. First they talk about cloth seats. I sure hope it is beta cloth or something reasonably non-flammable.
Second, in their "Execute Command" panel, which is all touchscreen as far as I can see, they have Cabin Depress right next to Deorbit Now. Given that there are no hardware breaks, such as protected some of the circuits on Apollo, what happens if the Commander hits the wrong button by mistake?

The cloth mentioned is Alcantara, an artificial substitute for suede leather. Alcantara has been used as a flame retardant driver seat covering material for Formula One race cars.

I did not see a hand controller by any seat. Would the spacecraft's attitude be controlled from the main panel via touchscreen?

A photograph by Annie Liebovitz for Vogue shows cargo stowage bags in the aforementioned trays.

I had the exact same thought when I first saw this. I cannot imagine that this is the final design. I think (hope?) they had that there for laughs. No way NASA would approve such a design. Right? (Please say "yes".)

Assuming those are buttons and not lighted status displays, if they are in the final configuration than the concerns being raised can be addressed with confirmation prompts (similar to how when you go to delete files on a computer, you're generally prompted if you really mean to delete the files).

I wonder if they purposely focused on so many struts in the first ("interior") video ...
