Was there nay reason(s) for the V-2 to be painted white and black and was the pattern of significant importance? |

From V2Rocket.com: The early prototypes of the A4/V2 were painted in the familiar black-and-white roll pattern scheme. This scheme was designed to aid in tracking the rocket after launch. This pattern made it easy to observe any variation or roll of the rocket. The exact pattern was changed many times, and as with the rest of the rocket, the pattern was examined and altered if warranted. Read more about the roll pattern at V2Rocket.com - Markings/Colors/Camouflage. |

As an add on: at least one V-2 at White Sands was painted yellow and black but I have no details of how many or exactly why. |

I am currently collecting images of the V-2 rocket in its post-war life at the White Sands Proving Range. I have a website dedicated to the various paint schemes that were used on each round launched from White Sands and would like to know if anybody has images that would help me in getting photos of every round launched from White Sands Proving Grounds? I have viewed most of the material located at White Sands as well as the photographic archives at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. |

I really like your website. It's the first I've seen on the V-2. I do have in my personal collection about two hours on VHS of silent films of V-2 launches from White Sands after the war. I also got a technical manual I copied while in Huntsville. It's done in blueprint style. |

I too have a bunch of video. I haven't viewed them in a while but most of them are silent. I've seen technical manuals come up every once in a while on eBay but my main focus has always been on the photos. There's a guy in Santa Fe, New Mexico that collects a lot of the documentation on the V-2 but not really sure as to what he currently has since I haven't spoken with him in quite some time. |
