The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Foundation and the 45th Space Wing signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on December 1, 2005, renewing the CCLF's agreement with the Air Force to help maintain the landmark and allows for more public access to the site through the Foundation. The document gives the CCLF the opportunity to operate a gift shop and operate tours. The CCLF is describing this as the first step to being able to restore the entire lighthouse complex.Florida Today recently published an editorial applauding the agreement. Could a similar agreement/access to the Air Force Space and Missile Museum be far behind? [This message has been edited by Robert Pearlman (edited January 08, 2006).] IP: Logged |

Then why did they burn the original buildings down??????? Looks to me like someone is just trying to make more money. Don't get me wrong, I love the old light house.IP: Logged |

Rick, to which buildings do you refer? I read that the CCLF restored the oil house and there was a concrete block storage building. The CCLF was founded in 2002, two years after the lighthouse was transferred to the Air Force (per this government website). Were the building burned down before or after the Foundation was established? IP: Logged |
