PicoSat, or Picosatellite Solar Cell Testbed 2 (PSSC-2) did carry a camera to record its separation from Atlantis. It will be up to the Air Force to process that data and then release whatever images were returned. As for the so-called external tank "Death Cam," that footage will be several months in coming, as explained here. |

A few more photos have trickled out of JSC showing some side-on views of the space station unique to STS-135. Photo 011857 is a nice shot that shows all the traffic at the ISS. |

On reviewing my recording of CNN's live coverage of the STS-135 launch, I noticed something odd about the picture. Why did CNN present most of the coverage in extreme wide-screen, resulting in black spaces above and below the picture? Today, I see similar presentation on CNN, but only for some coverage. Their picture jumps between normal ratio (about 1.8 to 1) to an extreme 2.3 to 1 for some presentations. (For instance, they just jumped from 1.8 to 1 for a weather forecast to 2.3 to 1 for a film report on Africa.) For whose benefit are the "super-widescreen" pictures? | |
