NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) video and photo release
KSC Employees Assemble for Historic Photo

Employees at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida took a few moments on Friday to assemble for a historic aerial photo outside Kennedy's Vehicle Assembly Building. Thousands of workers stood side-by-side to form an outline of a space shuttle.

The unique photo opportunity was designed to honor the Space Shuttle Program's 30-year legacy and the people who contribute to safely processing, launching and landing the vehicle.

I wonder if the ISS was passing directly over KSC at the time.

Does anyone have any idea how long the people in the middle of this human sculpture had to stand out there?

I was one of the first to enter the video from the top of the frame. They dropped the rope at 11:45, with the helicopter flying in around 12:10. As we entered, an outline was on the pavement that we stood on, with the rest of the group then filling in the middle.

It was evident there were far too many people there, so an impromptu circle was made from all others to ring the orbiter. Most employees made the trip and did the photo op during their lunch time.

If you want to look, I am in the middle of the leading edge of the port wing. I'm the one with the eyes closed.
