When astronaut Peggy Whitson became NASA's first Science Officer during her first tour of duty aboard the International Space Station in 2002, Star Trek artist Mike Okuda thought it was only natural to give her a pair of pointy ears and from there a series of re-touched ISS crew member photos began. It seems as though the ISS Expedition 21 crew, who begins service aboard the station in October, took the idea and ran with it for their official NASA crew poster... Of course, they aren't the first crew to don the uniform: STS-54 crew. Credit: SpaceFacts.de STS-90 crew. Credit: SpaceFacts.de

We did a little of that here at the Museum recently too! Our "crew" was Armstrong, Bean, Cernan and Cunningham.
