From Stephen Garber, NASA History Division: quote: The NASA History Division is pleased to announce a special new Web site devoted to the upcoming 25th anniversary of the first Space Shuttle flight, STS-1, on April 12, 1981. This site is available on-line and includes a wealth of information including chronologies, fun facts, biographies, images, Web links, bibliographies, information about the Shuttle's innovative technologies, and more. Special thanks to interns Gabriel Okolski and Julia Sawyer and to designer Todd Messer for all their hard work on this attractive and informative site.

Yep, I got the same problems with the same images! Tried a page refresh with no luck.Anyone know if the thumb for image 15 is a rare uncropped version of the crew pic or have they flipped a section and pasted it to make it square? The image loads as the normal pano crew pic. Cheers.....Adam |

Some of the photos that won't open are also available in the KSC gallery. See the first link under the photos.By the way: some of these scans are awfully bad! Purple or yellow haze! The SRB recovery pics, for example... And Adam: this is just the normal STS-1 crew portrait. Like you said: they flipped a section to make it square. Ed |

Thanks for that Ed, Because of the size of the thumbnail I wasn't sure if they weren't standing behind a polished table! Adam |

When I was in California back in 2000, I saw Columbia up close and took a lot of photos, some I scanned and are posted here. Seven pages still work... ---- Jacques www.spacepatches.nl |
