A Florida football team is about to add a few stars to its Knights.
The University of Central Florida (UCF) has revealed that its Knights football team will wear NASA-inspired uniforms for their homecoming "Space Game" on Saturday (Oct. 14) against the East Carolina Pirates at Spectrum Stadium in Orlando.
"As if you weren't already excited for Saturday," the school wrote on Twitter on Tuesday (Oct. 10), "these uniforms get launched."

University of Central Florida (UCF) release
Rendezvous with the stars
UCF Football Space Game is go for launch on 11.02.19 vs. Houston
Why choose to go to the moon?
The University of Central Florida was founded in 1963 as Florida Technological University, with the mission of supporting the growing United States space program at nearby Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
UCF produces more graduates who are hired by aerospace and defense companies than any other university in the nation.
30% of the Kennedy Space Center's employees hold UCF degrees
UCF is the host institution for the NASA-funded Florida Space Grant Consortium
UCF has worked directly with NASA on the following recent missions:
OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return (UCF Physics)
GOLD - Global Observations of the Limb and Disk (UCF Computer and Electrical Engineering)
Today, UCF is working with new and bold commercial companies such as SpaceX, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic that have stepped up the pace since the space shuttle program concluded in 2011. UCF is working with several other industry and academic partners to help prepare for a trip back to the Moon and beyond.
Modeled after the dark and light side of the moon, each helmet was hand painted by Schutt Sports.
321 area code on the front bumper is in recognition of the area code of the Space Coast of Florida just east of UCF's campus.
UCF Constellation Pattern
The constellations used represent roads and buildings on campus at UCF, including Orion (the name of the road that circles Spectrum Stadium) with his club or sword drawn at Taurus the bull, the victim of Orion's strike. Taurus represents the opponent and the conquered.
The outline of the Arecibo telescope, the largest fully operational radio telescope on the planet – the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico is under UCF Management
The flight coordinates "SS50 R-090/31 LC39A" that shows how the 50-yard line of Spectrum Stadium lines up on the exact latitude as Launch Complex 39A, NASA's most historic launch pad, 31 miles to the east.
A shape of the planet named after UCF (UCF1.01)
The sleeves feature a large Pegasus constellation where the Pegasus logo would typically be on our uniforms.
The Citronaut Returns
The unofficial first mascot of UCF who first appeared on the 1968-1969 school handbook returns to the #UCFinSpace football uniform. It has now made appearances on five sets of threads: football ('18) men's and women's soccer ('15) and baseball ('14, '19).

The UCF Knights continue to celebrate their school's connection to NASA with special uniforms for their annual Space Game, this year scheduled for Nov. 2. The 2024 theme is "Mission VIII: Powering Humankind's Return to the Moon."
With support from UCF alumni, faculty and students, NASA aims to send humans back to blaze a path from the moon into deep space exploration for the future of humankind.
UCF's Exolith Lab is home to the world's largest simulated lunar surface with its Regolith Bin. The state-of-the-art research and testing facility allows space companies, scientists, faculty and students to test how moon dust interacts with hardware that powers space missions.
The Regolith Bin is filled with 120 tons of lunar highland simulant soil, replicating the moon's south pole - which is where NASA's Artemis program aims to develop a sustainable presence.
